That ship sailed years ago. In the 1970s we weren’t allowed to carry/keep our assigned weapons and ammunition with us when not on an active range or duty that required a weapon. Off duty your personal weapons were maintained in the armory. That was on a Marine Corps base.

Same era service here.Barely allowed weapons

in VN.Course I was Signal,not a combat unit

by any means.We were issued weapons going

out in the field.

Do wonder how long ago it was the military personnel

carried weapons and not kept stored in the armory.

Would not be suprised it was about ww1.
