The Growing Blue-State Diaspora
New York Times ^ | August 23, 2014 | Robert Gebeloff and David Leonhardt

Posted on 08/24/2014 7:07:04 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Californians have moved to Colorado and Nevada. Massachusetts natives have moved to New Hampshire. New Yorkers have moved to North Carolina and Virginia — and, of course, have continued moving to Florida.

Over the last few decades, residents of many traditionally liberal states have moved to states that were once more conservative. And this pattern has played an important role in helping the Democratic Party win the last two presidential elections and four of the last six. The growth of the Latino population and the social liberalism of the millennial generation may receive more attention, but the growing diaspora of blue-state America matters as well.

The blue diaspora has helped offset the fact that many of the nation’s fastest-growing states are traditionally Republican. You can think of it as a kind of race: Population growth in these Republican states is reducing the share of the Electoral College held by traditionally Democratic states. But Democratic migration has been fast enough, so far, to allow the party to overcome the fact that the Northeast and industrial Midwest contain a smaller portion of the country’s population than they once did.

The migration helped President Obama win Colorado, Florida and Virginia in both 2008 and 2012. In 2014, the influx of blue-state natives gives Democrats a better chance to win Senate races in Colorado, Georgia and North Carolina, among other places.

The spread of people born in New York State offers a particularly telling example: Of the 20 million Americans alive today who were born in New York, nearly one in six now live in the South. That would have been almost unthinkable 50 years ago, when the share was one in 25.

If blue state policies work so well, why do their residents leave -- and support the same policies that caused them to leave?

If cockroach policies worked so well, why would they spread out from a garbage dump?

The natural tendency to corrupt everything they can?

The migration helped President Obama win Colorado, Florida and Virginia in both 2008 and 2012.

.......

The biggest factor that helped Obama win was the GOPe.

I am one of those six.

But, unlike many, I came packed with conservative values.

Then, by the same logic, they will start loosing in the states the they have left.

Not only that, but in the states the senior Democrats have gone (like Florida), by the same logic, would go conservative again after the bulk has passed away.

Beyond this, Democrats abort their children more than any other political group, so that should make the problem worse rather than better for them.

Locusts.

They turn their states into wastelands and move on to turn more into wastelands.

“They are too stupid to see the connection.”

And arrogant. I’ve always been amazed at how so many otherwise intelligent people can be so gullible and irrational in this area.

The answer, at least in part, is while they are intelligent by society’s standards, they lack wisdom and virtue.

Great. The blue parasites leave their dying host state to infest and destroy a healthy red state; seen these scumbags here in Texas. They go around stating, "Back in Pinkochussettss we had...". The general response back is, "Go the [expletive] back, you ignorant liberal scum. You've already [Expletive] you POS Marxist utopian state, we're not interested in your doing the same here."

Amazing that the libtards don't catch the connection between their parasitic and destructive policies and their dire impact on the conomy and community. Thus, the label, "libtard".

A fairly popular bumper sticker in Texas in the late 1970’S stated “ I don’t care how you did it up north”. The same holds true to a great extent for those leaving the socialist paradises they have created.

Ah, but the Democrat Socialists have a powerful ally - the GOPEs - to help them retain the blue states they abandon as well as to infect the red states they seek refuge in -- so it's not an even trade-off.

No, the only way to stop a rapidly spreading "progressive" disease (i.e., cancer) is to remove or destroy it ... certainly not to ignore or support its spread as the GOPEs have been doing for some time now.

I find most transplants from Cali who move here (UT) are either fed-up conservatives or, otherwise, if LIBs, they tend to shut up. It is easy to tell who they are. Usually the LIBs’ heads are misshapen...as are their general attitudes. Most here don’t tolerate LIB BS.

Michigan is a good example of that.

Same in North Carolina. All the NYers would be at the beach complaining how it was so much better in NY. “Oh the bagels at Stein’s on 32nd and 17th were sooo much betta’ than here.” Finally, we moved farther south to get away while we could. It’s like a plague. Destroy where you are and them move on.

the GOPEs

The GOPEs, as you call them, also believe in abortion and in allowing illegal immigration. Thus they too, by the same logic, will eliminate themselves.
