Southern Democrats in tight Senate races want to energize the black vote without relying on the nations highest profile black politician: President Barack Obama.
The president is deeply unpopular in states like North Carolina, Louisiana and Arkansas, and vulnerable Democratic incumbents there arent eager to be seen with him. Still, their campaigns and Democratic control of the Senate could well hinge on whether African Americans turn out in large numbers.
Thats where the Congressional Black Caucus comes in. Prominent caucus members, including Reps. John Lewis of Georgia, Jim Clyburn of South Carolina and Elijah Cummings of Maryland, are stumping through the South ahead of the midterm elections to rally black voters.
You have so many people who, unfortunately, see the president as someone they dont like, said Cummings. You need others to come in and talk about the same things he would talk about.

Black racists stumping for another black racist?
Nothing new here.
Backs can’t be racists; only Whites can be racists.
This is an essential axiom of American political life.
Nobody wants to see the Black Caucus. They have 0 accomplishments. If they were any other race they would be laughed out of existence. Can you imagine the Oriental Caucus?
The BC is a money grubbin, self serving group that thinks it has a lot of influence, they don’t. They mistreat Black conservatives and are only a group because the dnc had to toss a something their way for payback for votes.so they got a nice room, big doors with their name on it letterhead and all of the sudden their important. I can’t imagine what goes on behind those doors but I’ll bet it could make Saturday night live.
You’re right; it is to pretend they matter.
Funny how only conservatives can be “controversial” and “divisive.” These nutjobs will actually help win elections, so say the fools in the MSM.
I wonder how loud you could hear them scream if Ted Cruz (even though he is a Senator) helped his friends in the House of Rep. organize a “Congressional Latino Caucus”? Or what would happen if Trey Gowdy organized “The Congressional White Caucus”? Why are Blacks so special that they are the only ones getting their own Caucus.
