I had surgery about 2.5 years ago that used a “robot” and the total cost for that, billed as is, was over $50,000. I was in surgery for about 3 hours, and recover for about 3 hours, 2 overnight stays. $50k.

OMG, That is legal thief..If you didn’t get a breakdown of the bill, I think you can still get them...When my husband died of his first and only heart attack in the backyard of the farm, I got a (asked for) breakdown of all the charges. One was for surgery, he had no surgery, as they were doing CPR on the way to the hospital....It ticked me off and I asked the funeral director to see if his body had any surgery....she said no....I found out they did a cut-down to insert an IV line..being a nurse I knew and also assisted doctors do a cut down on a patient. Its a one inch incision to put the line in if they can not get a vein. That was the great surgery that cost a small fortune....Some things that get billed for routinely are not really legal costs....
