Fifty human trafficking victims are discovered in Britain each WEEK

ALMOST 50 immigrants are smuggled into Britain each WEEK, government figures have revealed - as police continue to probe two separate cases of human trafficking.

Last year 1,746 potential trafficking victims were found in the UK - a rise of 47 per cent on the previous 12 months.

In the first three months of this year 392 adults and 174 children were found as victims of human trafficking in the UK - the most common countries of origin being Albania, Slovakia, Nigeria and Vietnam.

The figures, recorded by the National Crime Agency (NCA), found that police forces, local authorities, charities and Home Office officials identified 566 potential cases between January and March - the equivalent of 47 possible trafficking victims each week.

Sexual exploitation is said to be one of the main reasons for a person being trafficked, as well as cases of cheap labour or domestic slavery.

The figures have been released after the death of a man and the discovery of 34 other illegal immigrants crammed in a shipping container at Tilbury Docks, Essex, as well as the rescue of 15 immigrants from the back of a lorry at a Somerset service station.

Nick Alston, police and crime commissioner for Essex, said the Tilbury case had highlighted the "evil of the abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people".

"We can be sure that almost all cases of human trafficking involve exploitation by callous organised criminal gangs," he added.

Meet Singh Kapoor, 40, from Afghanistan, was found dead inside the shipping container at Tilbury on Saturday.

Other illegal immigrants, including 13 children as young as one, were treated for dehydration and hypothermia.

In this case, they are believed to have fled their home city after suffering persecution.

They are now in the process of claiming asylum in the UK after travelling to Europe in a lorry before reportedly spending 18 hours in the cargo container en route to the UK.

A 34-year-old, from Limavady, Northern Ireland, was arrested yesterday at Banbridge on the A1.

He was due to be transported to Essex to be questioned on suspicion of manslaughter and facilitating illegal entry into the UK.

A separate investigation is underway after Avon and Somerset Police were alerted to noise from the back of a refrigerated lorry containing 15 migrants at a service station in Ilminster, near Taunton.

A German man has been arrested on suspicion of facilitating the unlawful entry of people into the UK.

The immigrants, who are thought to be from Eritrea and Kashmir - included men, women and a 15-year-old boy.

A Home Office spokesperson said they would continue to work with law enforcement agencies in the UK and Europe to "target organised crime gangs behind the majority of people smuggling."

He said: “These criminals are constantly modifying their tactics in an attempt to evade strengthened border controls and we are seeing increasingly dangerous methods being used, including the use of sealed or refrigerated vehicles.

“We would warn those who are tempted to put their lives in the hands of organised smugglers, that they are putting themselves and their families at risk.”

They fail to mention that Islamic Revolutionaries under any given name are funded by Human and Drug Trafficking, as well as enabled by national leaders.

The fact that pure, dangerous heroin is flooding world markets and British government is equally silent, I would say they are equally complicit.
