Perry should use this incident to change the Texas constitution and remove the special privileges afforded to the Travis County DA. The law was for another time and age. It is too easy to be abused.

I think this can be done without constitutional action, just with simple legislation.

I have contacted my TX senator and rep to request that they initiate or participate in actions to transfer these powers from the Travis County DA to the Texas AG (where they belong).

I asked that all Texas Freepers do the same.

Contacting senator and rep sounds like a good idea. Do you have any references that would explain the situation regarding the powers of the Travis County DA so some of us can get some background info? If it’s been posted already I’ve missed it.
