Cases in West Africa's Ebola outbreak this year have risen to 2,240, including 1,229 deaths, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Tuesday, reporting the toll in four countries, including Nigeria.
While Nigeria, Africas most populous nation and No. 1 oil producer, appears to be containing its smaller outbreak, Liberia and Sierra Leone are struggling to halt the spread of the deadly Ebola virus among their populations.
On Friday, these small two West African nations and a medical charity chided the WHO for its slow response, saying more action was needed to save victims threatened by the disease and hunger.

not good
Never fear, I’m sure Obozo is on it with a plan to get them over here. The people who aren’t killed by the TB, leprosy, plague, etc, from the border jumpers, can get HIV/AIDS and ebola from the Africans flown here.
Any parent who puts their kid in public school these days is a fool. They’re not even requiring vaccination records for the illegals.
Thank god for the oceans.
You’re also understating the problem. Antibiotic resistant germs can be brought in too. Given the conditions under which a lot of illegals live, it’s a serious risk that some of them could bring such dangerous germs in.
This is what happens when these nations are propped up by do-gooders. Now they’re blaming everyone but themselves for their inability to deal with the epidemic.
Leprosy isn’t a serious risk in the U.S. it’s extremely hard to spread, and so long as it’s diagnosed early, it’s very treatable. There are those vulnerable to contracting it though, but that’s a fraction of the population.
AMEN!
I just wonder, how long until it gets here?
Its not just an inability, but an unwillingness to face cold hard facts; if the governments and people of Africa were realists, this would be contained completely and of course, the people of Africa wouldn’t be acting the way they are now (hating Western doctors, suspicious of outsiders, attacking ebola wards) and things would be a lot easier for everyone.
Yes, without them there would be a lot less rain.

Very thoughtful of WHO to give those in quarantine some freaking food.
Thanks for the ping!
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
