Wissam Haddad, the head of the al-Risalah Islamic Centre in Sydneys southwest, yesterday told The Daily Telegraph he followed the flag of Allah rather than the flag of Australia.
The flag, called the Shahada, is the same as the one used by Islamic State terrorists who have been spreading death and terror across the Middle East.
Im not comfortable personally holding the (Australian) flag because this flag does not represent me as a Muslim. My flag is the flag of Allah. Thats my flag.
For me to have the Shahada flag, as its called, thats a flag that I stand and live and die for and I dont stand and live and die for the Australian flag.
Mr Haddads comments came just hours after Prime Minister Tony Abbott told Ray Hadley on 2GB radio that the only flag that should be flying is the Australian national flag.
The PM sat down with community leaders yesterday in a bid to allay fears about recently beefed-up counter-terror laws.
Weve got a serious problem of radicalised people going to the Middle East to fight with terrorist groups, he said.
Some of them will want to come back to Australia and they do pose a risk if they do, because theyve been radicalised, militarised and brutalised by the experience.

Hello, Captain Obvious
Sooner or later, some nation will have had enough of the Muslim penchant for murder and rape, and will deport these idiots or declare them a “clear and present danger” and incarcerate them. Maybe some of the other more timid nations of the world will be emboldened and do the same. Maybe the Finns. Some of them are real badasses.
What a great time for Aussies to reflect on the fact they allowed themselves to be disarmed...

Haddad and Muslims with this mindset needs to move to a Muslim country since he doesn’t have an allegiance to Australia.
My two main firearms (or at least the same models - I haven't actually photographed my own). Legally owned - I'm one of over a million Australian citizens who owns firearms.
We've got some dumb restrictions and rules, but we're not disarmed. Not everything written on the internet is true - especially about contentious political issues.
Yes, that fabled One-World of Islamic Rule - once the Moslems are done killing everybody else, they can settle down to the serious business of killing each other.
But, hey, it’s all for Allah, so it’s blessed by heaven.
From what I understand if you lived in one of the major cities these weapons would be illegal. If not, please set me straight.
As to the topic at hand though, if you want to live in a country you should be loyal to that country. If not, get out and go someplace where you will be happy!
They have to be registered and I have to have the right licences - but that's pretty much the same rules that apply to my car (in practice at least - I suppose you could own a car if you were unlicenced and it wasn't registered, but you couldn't actually take it anywhere - with firearms, you can't legally own without the right licence and registration). As I say, we have rules, and some of them are dumb. But you can certainly own firearms.
I have more than the most basic licence, and the C category licence I need for the SLR is probably easier to get in a rural area than in a city - but it really wasn't difficult even here.
Australia has a population on par with New York City and environs. If they act now, they can expell these goat humping devils back to their godforsaken lands with relatively little effort. You’ve been warned blokes and blokettes.
Uh oh, time for some Muzzies to be exported. Or, tossed into the water. Here Sharkie Sharkie, here Sharkie Sharkie.
As we say here, "Carry on!" :)
