Barack is probably waiting for Valerie to decide what will work best for increasing the Democratic share of the vote in November: whip up passions so that the base will be more likely to go to the polls, or calm things lest there be a backlash from non-black voters. Given his track record, he'll want to keep things stirred up to make sure his base will be angry and want to vote...while throwing in enough platitudes about keeping the peace so that he can't be accused of inciting violence.

The media may be strategizing on how to make white racism and police brutality towards minorities one of the major news themes between now and the election. Better for Obama than the IRS, foreign policy failures, or illegal immigration.
