“...They fit the bill for home defense ...”

Shortens your logistics trail too... common ammo, common mags for handguns, etc.

Always a good thing!

RE MG50DFX:
Marshall makes some nice amps. Had an OLD 70s vintage Marshall head that burned up years ago.

Back in the early 80s I got my American Stratocaster. It’s from 1982. Well made, rock solid. Also had a 1977 American Strat with no tremolo cutout. Sounded “thicker” than a tremolo equipped Strat. (sold it... stupid move!)

The Ibanez guitars are good, built well. Used them a lot when I was playing in bands.

I also have an Ibanez bass that I don’t play too much anymore.

RE Pedals: I only use a Dunlop Crybaby wahwah anymore. That’s my only pedal.

“...Hale, are you a picker, too?..”

“I’m a picker, I’m a grinner, I’m a lover, and I’m a sinner”!!!

Yeah, I can still shred the frets... my dogs get REAL nervous when they see me hooking up the guitar and high-tail it under the bed.

Cut my chops learning Hendrix, Clapton, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, then Eddie VH, Steve Vai, and SRV back in the day.

Good stuff. People actually PLAYED their guitars then.

Played the hell out of them, actually.

Precisely, which is why I opted for the carbines over rifle calibers. They're a whole lot cheaper than an AR, as well.

Well, Windflier, I now live in the town of Lewisville - you and I may live close to each other now.

Kewl. We're across town from you in Rowlett. That's maybe 30 miles or so. Nice to know you're so close. Hope to meet up with you at the Texas Shoot this October!

Dang. Sure wish I could find me a $15 knock-off that looks that good.

Yeah, I was surprised and couldn't pass it up at that price. Got one for my daughter and my nine year old son, too. Heck, I should have picked up a couple extra ones for myself.

If I can get myself close to Grapevine in the near future, I will.

I once had a Jackson/Charvel with locking tremelo and active electronics.

I got to play one of those over a period of months once.

It wasn't mine, a bandmate worked at Parker Music and we got to practice there after hours and use the floor display stuff.

Spoiled the hell out of me really.

I had the pick of dozens.. and always went for that Jackson/Charvel.

It was SWEET.

Ah yes AlexW,

You rolled your bloated body, led by a flabby gut that looks like the underbelly of a blowfish, out of bed again this morning, head throbbing from sucking down too much cheap hooch last night.

As you staggered around in your tattered undershorts, wiped your rheumy eyes, and ran your nicotine stained fingers through what little hair remains on your head, you were again reminded of how little time remained for you in this life.

As usual, such thoughts brought back the rage you feel about why your life has never been what you expected of it, and more importantly to you, just who is responsible for your failings.

Refusing to acknowledge your own responsibility, you have spent your life running away from things. You even ran away from your country of birth -- America, always seeking a “better” place to live – eventually landing in the Philippines.

But the fact that you have to rely on Social Security payments from your country of birth to live there continued to feed your rage at life and all those who were, in your mind, responsible for your failures.

During one of your “bored with life” days You decided to join the FreeRepublic forum as a “pretend” Patriotic American, only to be outed within just a few posts. Unfortunately for you, pretender Patriots are quickly recognized by FReepers for what they are.

Your “Great Life” in the Philippines that you espoused on FR of course really wasn’t, just as all the other countries you fled to before the Philippines weren’t either.

You found yourself spending more and more time on FR, both yearning for good old America, and at the same time, still hating it and those who supported it.

So, you spent your days and nights reading FR and looking for spots to snark, troll, and generally show all that you “really, really” were glad to not be in America any more – though, of course, you refused to renounce your American citizenship.

And then, today it all came to a head. There in front of you was a thread on FR, addressing rioting in Ferguson, Missouri. And it was the perfect opportunity for you to point out one of the reasons that your life was a miserable failure – Blacks!

Yes, yes, you had to say it, because it was true! They caused most, if not all, of the problems in your sad and nearing-the-end life, and it needed to be said loudly and firmly.

After you typed in your stoopid comment, you sat back in your LazyBoy knockoff easy chair (that you got for one-quarter the price of a real LazyBoy chair in America) and smiled. It needed to be said, right? And if it provided the Lefties with ammunition against FR, well, what’s the problem in that, right?

As you waited in front of your “I got it cheaper” computer for the praise and huzzahs your comment rightly deserved, something strange happened.

The Zot came right up through the bottom of that fake LazyBoy chair and fiercely burnt your tush while your FR account went up in smoke!

Your “low cost” maid came rushing in, to find you laying face down on the floor, after being blown clear out of the chair. Your tattered shorts were now smoldering and your massive exposed posterior was now permanently BLACKENED (and your maid will be sure to, mirthfully, let everyone in town know about it).

Oh yea, AlexW, feel free to fill out and submit the attached ButtHurt form. It will be given the consideration it deserves.

If you need any maintenance or whatnot, let me know.

We got reduced rates for FReepers and decent folks of all stripes.

“Reading your post took me by surprise, I am so very sorry to hear of this accident.”

You are going about your day and suddenly your car is hit. Everything is changed for the day. Stayed flat on my back a long time before the scan. However, as mothers always say, “Be sure you have on clean panties when you leave the house in case you might be in an accident.” My lace ones were clean. :o)

I have Marshall/Mesa tastes, but a Peavey budget, so I run through a Valve King 100-watt 2x12 combo, with a VK 4x12 cab underneath. I call it a "3/4 stack". Good tube crunch, and the clean is surprisingly clear for a solid state clean channel. If I need to give it a bit more kick in the a**, I have a Rat and a Vox ToneLab board (it's smarter than me) but otherwise the only other pedal I use, other than a noise gate and tuner, is my Morley wah. My Les sounds nice and chunky through the VK, and I can pull some mean harmonics and feedback from my Charvel and Ibanez.

Not to pimp my You Tube channel, HG, but you can see the neck of my Charvel in the solo of "Hooks and Chains".

Hooks and Chains by 10 Pound Test

I was running through my backup amp on that recording, an old Tube Works Mosvalve 1x12 combo...which I like to trot out from time to time.

Man...guns, guitars and politics. This thread has it all.

Thank you. I winterized the house while there, put hot water heater on “Vacation” setting, turned off water and drained pipes and turned off gas. It should be fine unless a hurricane or tornado does damage.

Here we are the middle of August and no hurricane. Sept. seems to be the worst month for them - Ike was in
Sept.

Hooks and Chains thumbs up!

I can relate.

I've got an eight channel Tascam board (still new after seven years) that nobody has ever been able to make work right.

Even those brave souls that read the manual.
