That’s great, Cripplecreek :) Color shouldn’t make a difference. Detroit has about 65% black officers on their force. Sadly, Detroit shares the honor with New Orleans as having the highest crime rates in the nation. Replacing white or hispanic or asian officers with black “we-demand-a-daddy-substitute” officers just doesn’t seem to have worked out as a real solution to reducing crime; crime is going to happen regardless of the color of the officer patrolling the street.
Actually Detroit’s murder rate is down some 30% from last year. It makes a difference to have an armed population and a police chief who encourages it.
Detroit journalist Charlie LeDuff is a white guy who walks the toughest Detroit neighborhoods without fear is in Ferguson and says the place scares him and more are going to die before this is over. He even had a guy take a swipe at him with a knife last night.
