For those who don't know, Swisher Sweets are not actual cigars. They are cigarillos, and they are worth about 30-50 cents each. 99% of buyers actually cut them open length-wise, empty out the tobacco, and fill them with pot. This is called a "blunt". In most of the US, few smoke "joints" anymore (pot rolled into ZigZag papers). Blunts are far more popular, and Swisher Sweets are by far the most popular blunt-wrap of choice (they come in many flavors, like strawberry, peach, cherry, grape, white grape, etc)
Grabbing even a large handful would only be worth about $5-10. He was merely looking for blunt-wraps so he could smoke more weed and not be inconvenienced by going to the store to buy another 2-3 blunt-wraps each time he wanted to get high. Most who smoke pot only buy them as needed, and do not keep a supply on hand. (They get “stale” quickly, and that makes it tougher to roll into a blunt. They have to be soft and “fresh”, so buying a supply isn’t popular.)
