so that the mail is DOWNLOADED to the local machine on which the client is run, and DELETED from the server. You just think they are deleted, just because you can't go to another computer and download them again, doesn't mean they are really deleted forever.

In the scenario that I described with MY email, they are deleted from the server, period. As I originally wrote, that doesn't mean that they can't be restored.
You can't depend on anything truly disappearing forever.
