If the police in my area were all a bunch of crazy, gun-wielding thugs, the news would have gotten around quick. But they're not. I had a friend who was a cop who died recently. He was the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. Categorizing all policemen (or policewomen) as crazy thugs does the cop-haters/critics no good.
Ah! But this is different. Even though this officer is black, I see some white in him. This is a white-black officer and therefore this is obviously a racially motivated hate crime on the officers part. Crystal clear! Anyone would see this and buy into it.
Yup, aggressive cops are created by their environment not the other way around.
There’s a former Detroit cop living in my little town who came here as a cop about 6 months before we voted to eliminate our police force. In that 6 months he changed dramatically and says his stress levels plummeted. When we closed our police department, he decided to stay and went to school for some kind of computer related training and that’s what he does today.
