Both Frum and Krugman have fought long and hard to keep libertarianism relegated to the political margins because they know it makes sense to people. People THEY don’t like. The dinosaurs hated the mammals too.

Once upon a time, long ago and in a universe far away (Canada), David Frum was regarded as something not so far from a libertarian himself.

As loathsome as Frum is, he may actually have something to tell the author about the (im)practicality or (im)possibility of the libertarian vision in today's world.

Liberianism presupposes a society of wisdom and virtue. Since we live in a society hooked on freebies, Krum can sadly sleep soundly tonight.
