The promise of a significant influx of federal money was not enough to convince officials in one Kentucky school district to stick with the school lunch program endorsed by Michelle Obama. According to a Cincinnati Enquirer report, Fort Thomas Independent Schools will no longer be confined by the strict mandates set forth in the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act that went into effect earlier this year.
Despite the fact that the district would receive hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to implement the regulations, administrators cite the fact that kids are not eating the resulting meals as their reason for dropping the program.
According to Superintendent Gene Kirchner, the calorie limitations and types of foods that have to be provided have culminated in students just saying Im not going to eat that.

I haven’t eaten at a Subway since they partnered with her. Found out Jersey Mike’s is better anyway. I hope she doesn’t ruin that, too.
That's exactly how it should be when you eat at the expense of taxpayers.
I will never go to Burger King again now that they Homo’d the Whoppers.
My brother has a 10year old who was overweight (now slimming down through a lot of hard work). He says the Feds mandate two carb portions per meal, absolutely the kiss of death for my niece. Back to bagged lunches - thanks Moochele
Yep. I wish I wish a superintendent when they implemented this BS, I would have stood up and said “Who is Michelle Obama to tell you what to feed your kids? She is not an elected official, has no history of even working anywhere.”
They did it because of white guilt, affirmative action, and kickbacks at the expense of everybody else. Everyday I see more bad news, but with the bad comes good. Everyday I see more and more progressives waking up. The only good thing that has come of Obama is that he has planted seeds for us, by how intentional, even if they haven’t grown. I see them taking root everyday, and perhaps the will grow into the realization that people like Obama ARE wrong. With Hillary blaming him, Obama saying that “don’t do anything stupid” is the main factor in his choosing what to do for his foreign policy liberals are laughing at him behind his back.
When the squeeze comes, they won’t be turning to them. They will be giving others a chance.
Point is, Obama “doing anything stupid” is not going to work for everyone, he should be doing everything in the best interests of Americans. He isn’t, not even close, in fact I’m sure he’s doing the opposite ON PURPOSE. No one can possibly be this clueless, unless surrounded by 100 yes men that no they should tell him NO. But they say yes to his inept, child like ideas. Really it all comes down to the money.
I dont like it, said one FILL IN BLANK. They got rid of all the good FILL IN THE BLANK, and it doesnt FILL IN THE BLANK good.
One can say this about any Liberal program - school lunch, education, healthcare, foreign policy, immigration, space program, infrastructure repair,....
If I were in the public school business I would cut the budget and not accept the fed money.
The first Jersey Mike's. Point pleasant NJ. 1956. Really good subs.
Try again. Kids usually pay for their lunches. Most are paying customers, and are forced to be in one environment all day. They cannot leave to get decent food, and the teachers are commonly interfering with food they bring from home.
Now the food they are allowed to pay for is insufficient and low quality to meet the insane ideas of a chunky first lady who hates her own body, so she forces the nations kids to diet.
It's interesting that the "paying customers" are actually pushing a lot of school districts. Even the administrators quoted in the article say this. "We get $X from the Federal government for our school lunch program, but we're telling the Feds to get lost because we've lost $Y in revenue from students who used to buy lunch in school but now won't buy the sh!t that the Feds require us to sell them."
A school lunch program is one of the best examples you can find of self-imposed totalitarianism, so I've never had much sympathy for students and parents who complain about it.
It takes a Kentuckian to stand and tell the Feds to take their money and shove it. About time the Feds find out not everyone is for sell.
They were for sale when a no experience, no job, no authority, no class first lady came to them and said MY WAY IS BETTER!!!! They were for sale then. I have no reason to believe they aren’t for sale now.
I would like to add that, their are two reasons in the article for DITCHING IT.
1.) The kids won’t eat it. Which leads to
2.) They were LOSING MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!
Idiots.
Some people are still capable of thinking for themselves and learning. Keep watching.
Tell you a well kept secret, Ky has been pushing back for a lot of years, in a lot of ways. Unless you are from here you could not know.
