Frankly, I’m mildly happier that it was a messed up family crime than some anti-western Muslim/Bali zealot. I’d like to visit Bali someday when the natives are quiet.
Despite that one bombing, Bali is generally safe.
I think you will find Bali to be a heck of a lot safer than most US cities. It’s a lovely place, I’ve been there many times and always enjoyed it and never felt threatened at all, beautiful friendly people. Get out of your comfort zone and give it a visit, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
