Reuters) - Spanish emergency services picked up 755 immigrants traveling in dozens of small boats and makeshift rafts across the Strait of Gibraltar on Tuesday and 227 from the same stretch of water the day before, the Maritime Safety Agency said.

The Mediterranean shipping lane is almost 15 km (9 miles) wide at its narrowest and is often used by migrants trying to get to Europe.

More than 75,000 have tried to cross the Mediterranean from North Africa in the first half of 2014, landing in Italy, Greece, Spain and Malta, the UNHCR agency says, with about 800 people dying in the attempt.

About 10,500 children, two thirds of them unaccompanied or separated from their families, were included in those numbers, as people flee violence in Africa and the Middle East, often using unseaworthy vessels and with the help of smugglers.

Once they get onto Spanish/European soil they are home free and will never be deported. While Australia has a new conservative prime minister who is allowing none of these types (99% muzzie refugees) to reach Australia soil. Their boat is intercepted.

Actually what the Aussies do is to transfer them all onto a an unsinkable yellow pod style rescue boat. This is towed back to Indonesia. The original leaky scow is sunk out in the ocean. The Aussies kick them off the pod boat and take it back home to use again.

This is to foil ye ol refugee scam of sinking the boat you are on or setting fire to it so the Aussies have to bring them to Aussie soil for hospital treatment etc etc

‘Unsinkable’ fully enclosed pods contain food, water and navigational equipment
Arrival of first boat in Java has sent shockwavers though the people-smuggler and asylum networks

Inside the asylum-seeker lifeboats

THIS is what awaits asylum-seekers trying to get to Australia on dodgy wooden smuggling boats - the gift of an air-conditioned, 90-seat lifeboat, and an armed escort back to Indonesia.

This is the first close-up look at one of the 11 lifeboats that the Abbott Government has sourced out of Singapore in its uncompromising fight to stop the boats - a fight that it appears to be winning.

The Spaniards must be “sensitive”. They should give the immigrants citizenship, free medical care, drivers’ licenses, voting rights, free phones, welfare, free apartments, free education, free plane flights to nice places and basically font-of-the-line treatment. If they fail to do this, they should be investigated by the UN for crimes against humanity.

The Camp of the Saints was a prophecy, not a novel.
