Kansas is full of squishy moderate RINOS who will gladly back Dems over conservatives any day of the week. That’s how they elected Sebelius. Also, the economy stinks.

Phone surveys always seem to lean Democrat, because Republicans are working to help support the Democrats who are home to answer their phones, and Republicans have better things to do than answer stupid surveys.

That said, there probably will be purcons who sit home for reasons or excuses, hoping to get a Democrat they can rub into everyone’s face, and there will be fakecons who get all tingly just thinking about voting for a Democrat.

Why can’t the voters in Kansas (and the USA, for that matter!) understand that the Democrats are the party of disease, death and destruction?

Their LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist/Fascist ideology is a disease which has caused death and destruction on a massive scale, worldwide, for the past 150 + years.

Please, folks, NEVER, EVER VOTE FOR A DEMCRAT!

Don’t believe polls. OTOH, the idiot Sebelius was elected twice. The urban eastern part of the state is heavily RAT. This is probably where the poll was taken.

I can’t buy this just yet.

Rasmussen used to be the gold standard, but partiularly since they were upside down on Romney vs Obama, they have gone way over the top favoring Obama, by consistently showing him up 4 points more than the average from all the other pollsters put together.

What’s that all about?

Rasmussen. They have a liberal slant.

Which is not to say that Brownback is not in for a tough fight. His tax cuts have left a hole in the budget. He's been cutting education. It's not playing well across the state. He only took 63% of the vote against a total unknown in the primary.

A week or so ago, a freeper on another thread mentioned Tokyo Rove is associated with this new Rasmussen group.

If so, take the results with a truckload of salt as it’s Rove undermining a Conservative. AGAIN.

Davis will lose (IMO) not only because he is a buddy of Obama’s but also because Davis is anti-gun and its only logical that he would try to get rid of concealed carry and or open gun carry in Kansas and he is also for illegal aliens getting citizenship and would try to make Kansas a haven for illegals. Davis will likely deny these but ‘that’s election politics’.

On taxes, if Brownback is smart he will admit that Kansas isn’t really ready for zero taxes and what he should do is go to a flat tax with perhaps a flat 3% income tax and see how state income responds to that and maybe adjust it again after a couple years. It was a nice try to end taxes but its obvious the state economically isn’t ready for that and IMO most Kansan’s are understanding enough they will allow for that the change needs to be made.

Demoncrats have a short memory, they forget that there was only a couple $thousand dollars in the states bank account and a large number of state employees were being laid off for lack of funds to pay their wages when Brownback took over for Dem. Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and now with Brownback we have around $350 million in the bank.

So are we doing better now under Brownback? Yes but with some tweeking on the state budget things could be even better. I would be for Brownback to give up on the zero taxes and go to a 3 or 4% flat income taxes and see how the state budget responds to that for a couple years.

The general election is still three months away but political ads are already starting up again.

The first one to hit the airwaves is an ad that links Kansas gubernatorial candidate Paul Davis to President Barack Obama.

It begins: “When few supported Barack Obama, there was a liberal Lawrence legislator who believed.”

The 30-second spot is paid for by the Republican Governor’s Association, an organization that’s goal is to help GOP gubernatorial candidates get elected to office.

“Davis was an Obama delegate at the Democrat National Convention,” the ad continues.

This one featuring Davis is the most recent of several ads RGA has put out in the last week, targeting Democrat challengers in states where races are expected to be close, including in Kansas.

Davis, currently the Kansas House Minority Leader, is running against incumbent Governor Sam Brownback in November.

Although the ad never mentions Brownback, it echoes statements he’s made criticizing Davis’ support of the Obama administration’s policies.

“And four years later, after the failed stimulus, massive bailouts, record debt, a stalled economy, and the Obamacare disaster, Paul Davis was right back at the Democrat Convention with Obama as Obama’s delegate,” the ad goes on to say.

The ad ends with: “Paul Davis. Don’t delegate Kansas to an Obama Liberal.”

That’s not an attack. It’s an explanation of Davis’s stance. We dont need another Sebelius/Obama.

Sam BrownBack:

Measurable Success From a Proven Leader

Every citizen of Kansas is important to our administration. Whether creating a climate for business growth or protecting Kansas family values, we have set forth ambitious goals for our state and have seen phenomenal results.
Growing the Kansas Economy

Eliminated income taxes on all LLC and Sub-S corporations, leaving more money for the small businesses, that employ 75% of Kansans.
Signed a law providing $42 million in unemployment insurance tax relief to more than 40,000 Kansas businesses.

Jobs

55,000 new jobs since January 2011.
Increased Kansans’ Increased Per-Capita Personal Disposable Income by 10.8% from 2011 to 2013.
Increased private sector employment by more than 1,000 jobs every month.

Unemployment

Unemployment rate below 5% for seven consecutive months; for the first time since 2008.

Education

Increased total state aid to schools by over $397,676,000 from FY 2010 to 2015.
2.3% increase in average K-12 teacher salary since the 2009-2010 school year.
676 more teachers working in Kansas.
Stabilize funding so our public universities remain strong to power a robust 21st Century Kansas economy.

Technical Job Skills

Implemented a career and technical education initiative which pays tuition for all career and technical education courses taken by high school students and rewards the school district with $1,000 for each student who receives an industry-recognized certificate.
More than 750 students graduated with an industry-recognized certificate. Furthermore, not only was there a 23% increase in one year, there has been a 236% increase since 2010.

Kansas Families

Implemented new Jobs for America’s Graduates program in school districts around Kansas. This program prepares at-risk high school students to finish school and become college or career ready.
Created new anti-human trafficking laws to prosecute those trafficking children.

Reform State Government

Created the Office of the Repealer, which takes recommendations on outdated state regulations and laws to eliminate.
Eliminated two cabinet agencies- the Kansas Health Policy Authority and the Juvenile Justice Authority.
Balanced the budget from a $500 million projected deficit in FY 2012 to a more than $750 million surplus in FY 2013.

Rural Opportunity

Created Rural Opportunity Zones in 77 counties in Kansas, which repay student loans for people establishing residency in these counties and/or waive Kansas income taxes.
