Exactly. Baraq's personal sympathies have to lie more with ISIS, since ISIS is anti-shia and he was raised sunni.
From the start, I wonder if he is really bombing (assuming that the reported bombs/missiles are actually being dropped) ISIS, or having his military minions blow up empty real estate, to make it LOOK like he is doing something to save the Chaldeans, Christian and Shia refugees.
The only thing Baraq has against ISIS is that they didn't already name him Caliph.

This is true to an extent (Indonesia is a predominately Sunni country, thus Barackbar is a Sunni Muslim), but I think that he wants to find a way to unite ISIS/Al Qaeda along with Iran. I don't think he wants to have ISIS attack the Shiites in Baghdad, because then that would provoke the Iranians.
It's clear that he needs the Iranians to develop nuclear weapons in order to attack Israel, since Saudi Arabia is intelligent enough to recognize that Israel's existence is a net benefit for it, while ISIS is nowhere near developing their own weapons (Barackbar is probably smart enough to recognize that selling ISIS nuclear weapons would quickly be exposed). For him, his problem is that ISIS is advancing in the wrong direction.

He certainly doesn't care about the Chaldeans and the Christians, and he probably wants the Kurds annihilated for generally being supportive of American incursions in the region. If the Shia refugees are radical enough, he may be legitimately trying to save them.
While I think that 0 will definitely blow up real estate once he has a deal worked out with ISIS (to pretend that they were "defeated"), he may actually be trying to punish ISIS for risking a crisis with his Iranian buddies. He probably doesn't want to attack them, of course, but at this point he's probably stuck in a corner. Iran didn't care about Mosul; they will care about Baghdad.
