Did we ask Japan and Germany for “permission” to leave troops there for decades? When you win a war, you have both authority and responsibility for managing the aftermath. If you don’t it will come back and bite you.
Bush should have made it clear the day we invaded Iraq that we would be there for at least the next 20 years.
Lots of wisdom in this statement I think. Bush wasn't perfect and neither is Obama, but we have responsibility.
