The video above is Barack Obama in December of 2011 declaring the mission in Iraq accomplished -- in his words, a "success." According to the president, we were leaving behind an Iraq that was "stable and self-reliant."
Except we weren't, and Obama knew it and so did anyone else paying attention.
Oh, the war in Iraq was won, but it wouldnt stay won without an American presence.
Regardless, the President bugged out of Iraq without an all-important status of forces agreement. In other words, like the stabilizing troops we still have in Japan, Germany, and South Korea -- we left no one in Iraq.
The results in Iraq have already been catastrophic. But if Obama, the Democrats, and media stay true to their obvious desire to have Iraq go down in the loss column for America, these days will be remembered as the good ole' days.
Thanks to Obama's highly dangerous combination for ambition and ignorance, ISIS is now a terrorist nation-state within Iraq (and part of Syria) with a standing army, a command and control infrastructure, control of a 600-mile front in the North, and a half-billion dollars. It gets worse
With only his re-election in mind, Obama fled Iraq before the country was ready, and as a consequence, when ISIS attacked, the Iraqis dropped and left behind weapons, many of which are American-made.
These American-made weapons could very well make the difference for the savage barbarians looking to wipe out Iraq's Kurds, the most pro-Western/pro-American part of the country and region.
Iraq was won. All we had to do was leave behind an American force that would continue to mentor and hold the Iraqi army together, and work as a deterrent against terrorist adventurism.

I started tweeting the same this morning. This is Vietnam redux, millions of allies to die because of Dem cowardice.
It’ll still be blamed as “Bush’s Vietnam”.
“n early 1973, North Vietnam and the Viet Cong knew they were defeated, came to the Paris Peace Accords, and agreed to end their aggression against our allies in the sovereign and free nation of South Vietnam.”
“With the war won, America pulled our troops. In order to keep the peace, we had to only agree to supply our allies in the South with any military hardware they would need should the North Vietnamese attempt to again invade the South. “
I don’t know that the 1973 Paris Peace accord, negotiated by Nixon and Kissinger, ‘won’ anything.
It left a large Communist field army intact in South Vietnam. It certainly didn’t put an end to North Vietnam’s ability or willingness to wage war. In fact it bought Hanoi time, which was one of their strategies for defeating us. They intended to wait us out.
Only destroying Hanoi and Haiphong, like we had done to German and Japanese cities in WWII, and occupying North Vietnam would have assured us of putting an end to the DRVN war against our southern ally.
The ‘win’ that the author believes in required a constant flow of military supplies and oil, and the threat of American airpower, to keep South Vietnam safe. Much like we have done in Korean for 60 years.
The 1974 ‘Watergate Congress’, the most leftwing group that the Democrats ever fielded, cut South Vietnam off from oil and ammunition. ‘Defeated’ North Vietnam figured this out in short order and sent a huge armored column south towards Saigon. American admirals and USAF generals begged President Ford to allow them to turn Highway 1 into a highway of death but he wouldn’t go for it with Congress opposed. And the rest is history.
It’s not Dem “cowardice” — they aren’t the ones on the front lines. Dem perfidy — yes. Dem deceit — yes. Dem trechery — yes. Dem treason — perhaps.
“As a candidate for president, I pledged to bring the war in Iraq to a responsible end,” Obama said. “So today I can report that, as promised, the rest of our troops in Iraq will come home by the end of the year.”
Beheading Christians and children is a liberal’s idea of a “responsible end” to war.
It is not cowardice.
Had 9/11 happened under Gore, this nation would be still at war in the Middle East as the liberals would have figured out how to fundraise off those defense contracts.
But, because the wars started under Bush, and the anti-war left donated lots of money, that is the direction the liberals went.
They have no morals, no core ideals, no convictions....just political expediency until the next election.
Gotta remember Jim, what Obambi sees now is success from his world view.
All in the name of politics...
Vietnam. Quagmire. No Blood for Oil. Killing fields. Give peace a chance. You’ll put your eye out. War never solved anything. Ungh! War! What is it good for?
This article linked to the National Review by David Horowitz just about says it all.
We have a community organizer who cannot run a fish stall who is now in the WH. The more urgent question is how in God’s name did we elect Barack Hussein Obama after 9/11?

Nice going there, Barky!
excellent point. Obama unwon Iraq. he is in the process of unwinning the cold war.
“Thanks to Obama’s highly dangerous combination for ambition and ignorance”
Don’t forget arrogance and hubris.
he is even trying to unwin other country’s won wars - the six day war would be a good example.
Democrat LOVE dead brown people- whether it’s lynched blacks, murdered SE Asians, aborted black and hispanic babies, and now the Middle East desert will pile up with skulls....Democrats dance in their blood.
.... It is rather strange and an ironic fate that the slapstick dance of American history is composed of Democrats having a rather strong penchant to "LOSE WON WARS" and the Republicans holding the honor of an equally strong proclivity to "SNATCH DEFEAT FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY"
.... It is, however, rather unfortunate that there does not exist a strong majority party that is composed of a cohesive team of leaders that stand for American Strength, Power and Justice to protect freedom lovers both at home and abroad.
.... Apparently political ambition .... childish bickering and backstabbing within the party is much more compelling and important that to secure freedom and fulfilling the Sacred duty and honor of defending, protecting and upholding the Constitution of the United States and the freedom and security it instills both at home and abroad.
..... Yup .... I guess it's just a matter of priorities ..... which have been fatally and terminally lost by those tasked to do the opposite of what they now do. What a shame. This is the time in history when the true defenders of freedom are needed most. I wonder what future historians will speak of when today's political events are chiseled into the annals of history? Everything we do now ... has consequences that will unfold in the future.
We didn’t lose either - we threw them away.....
