As Investigation Continues, VA Has Told Congress More Than A Few Whoppers

VA provided the committee an April 7, 2014 fact sheet purporting to show all of the cases of delays and preventable veteran deaths it oversaw in its gastrointestinal care in the last fifteen years.

“As a result of the consult delay issue VA discovered at two of our medical centers, VHA continues to conduct a national review of consults across the system, which includes a review of all consults since 1999,” according to the fact sheet.

“During this review, VA looked at all open s

How is this not a criminal RICO action?

Tens of millions of dollars were paid in bonus payments to these fraudsters who systematically lied to receive federal money.

There should be dozens of indictments already.

But... politics is this makes Obama look bad, so they DOJ does nothing.

Just like the border, F&F, IRS, Benghazi, etc. It will get worse until something finally goes boom!

btt, took hubby a year to get an appointment for service connected disability. It is going on in that arena as well. It is just not as well reported. They lose paper work, get it wrong, and take a year to get a first appointment.

Between the 2 of us with SS checks and Navy Pension, he makes to much for VA Care. So that leaves us totally with Medicare and Tricare Life. With it’s new 4/14/14 DOD MANDATE we use Base dispensary or Express Scripts for our daily meds. Very cumbersome process. Very dehumanizing to boot.

Express Scripts is a sorry excuse of a provider. You never know if your order is right, what generic, what manufacture, or what country. All stuffed into your mail box UN PHOTO ID SIGNED FOR making them available to thieves and meth makers to steal. Or Neighborhood kids to access.

Meet ES, be sure to read the complaints, and know that Medco was scandal plagued when ES bought them out. They never should have been given the Multi-billion $$ DOD Contract with their fraud record.

The VA was created to give 'better' care... is that laughable or what?

The appropriate consequence is defund the VA - destroy the organization. Sell off all the properties and give vouchers to vets.

End it - don't mend it.

“End it - don’t mend it.”

Actually, almost without exception (the military for example) federal agencies should all be shuttered and their functions turned over to the states. Only those that are specifically called for in the Constitution should stay with the notable exception being the Postal Service, and there we should pass a Constitutional Amendment removing it from the very short list of functions it mandates.

There is ample evidence for federal grand jury indictments for fraud as VA officials altered waiting lists to get bonuses. There have also been no firings of these officials. I would also think that there could be civil suits for wrongful death against these VA officials. No “reorganization” of the VA will be credible until these VA officials are brought to justice.

Are they not under oath? If so, isn’t knowingly lying under oath a criminal offense? Why are they not charged with perjury????

For the most part I agree... but with the VA is should NOT be turned over to the State... it should be abolished. Vouchers will work just fine with real doctors - doctors that don’t have God Complexes.

I didn’t mean for the VA to be turned over to the states. You have the right idea. Just give vets good Fed-paid insurance and let the private sector provide the care. And no Effing Obamacare look alike either.
