These particular Russians idolize Stalin and through their sick logic are proud of torturing and killing of innocent people. They see themselves as hard man making tough decisions and think few innocent lives do not matter in a scale of history. This gets further twisted into thinking that whoever of them murders the most is the hardest and wisest.
