There is no Ebola treatment. Only palliative measures to make dying easier. Millions will be squandered on two nutty “missionaries” who put themselves in harms way, who are going to expire soon.

Great to be a missionary but do it somewhere else

Incorrect. "Palliative" treatments are likely to significantly increase the chance of survival. We don't know because past victims were almost all treated in locations where truly modern care was unavailable.

Finding out whether treatment can be even partially effective is a plus to this scenario.

For example, prior to the 2001 anthrax attacks we believed those infected died at about the rates for Ebola. We now know that antibiotic treatments, if started in time, are quite effective.

Another example. Until fairly recetly it was believed that rabies was by definition fatal. In the last 10 years or so, several people have survived, due to effective supportive care, not specific treatments, which still don't exist.

‘There is no Ebola treatment. Only palliative measures to make dying easier.’

Believe it or not, this particular strain of Ebola has a forty percent survival rate. Not good odds, but better than 100% fatal. The dr. was injected w the blood of a youthful Ebola survivor, who has since made a full recovery. Be interesting to see how that works out. [Btw, were I in charge (& I’m glad I’m not) I’d have shipped everything possible (treatment-wise) to Africa, & kept the disease out of America. Fwiw.]

“Great to be a missionary, but do it somewhere else.”

Missionaries go where they are called by God. They don’t go where it is safe, or fun, or reasonable by the the standards of a 21st century American.

Most Christians used to know this - it is pretty basic stuff. Again, if this simple Christian concept eludes you, then you really, really need to re-examine your doctrine, and who you have been listening to on Sundays.

Is the debate over where or if to treat the guy legit? Sure. But asking a Christian who is called to a dangerous mission field to find somewhere safer? That is actually an attempt to thwart God, and you’ll have to answer for it some day. Good luck on that.
