Obama Has Room to Maneuver on Immigration Changes
ABC News ^ | August 2, 2014 | By ALICIA A. CALDWELL

What can President Barack Obama actually do without Congress to change U.S. immigration policies? A lot, it turns out.

There are some limits under federal law, and anything the White House ultimately decides to do may be challenged in court as unconstitutional. But leading legal experts say the White House almost certainly could delay indefinitely efforts to deport millions of immigrants already in the U.S. illegally, and it could give them official work permits that would allow them to legally find jobs, obtain driver's licenses and pay income taxes.

Here is what Obama could not do without approval from Congress: He couldn't generally give large groups of immigrants permission to remain permanently in the United States, and he couldn't grant them American citizenship. And he couldn't generally make them eligible for federal or state social benefit programs, such as welfare payments, food stamps or the administration's health care plans.

Looks like Obama’s administrative amnesty talking points have been issued to the LSM.

Congresses have been remiss for decades in writing laws that allow the bureaucracies wide latitude in implementing the details of same.

This allows the intent of Congress to be perverted over time and is a cowardly and lazy way to write laws.

Congress needs to go back over all the laws it has written and correct them to regain its power and gain closer control over the Executive Agencies to shackle partisans like (Slow) Learner.

And when they get there drivers’ licenses, the licenses better be a different version than that of a legal citizen or they,ll be using it to sign up to vote.

With so many having the same names, there is no way computers can sort through tens of thousands of Juan Garcia and Maria Gomez applicants to weed out the illegals. It won’t happen.

He can't do these thing huh? He might do all if them, and defy anyone to do something about it. If anyone tried to stop him, the race cards fly, and we all know they will fold, because they would rather accept nucs going off on American soil, than be called racists.

What Congress can do is starve the beast. Cut any funding. Doesn’t matter what Obama does if the Congress does not give the money to pay for it.

“Room to maneuver” is Newspeak for dictatorship.

Any politician who hemms and haws and obfuscates, instead of coming out strongly for a serious border fence, is just a liar who supports the continuing invasion.

OTOH, the first GOP presidential candidate who runs on building the double fence all the way from sea to sea in his first year will win in a landslide.

He can do them, but he can’t make his actions legal. This means that a tough Republican president could reverse his illegal orders on day one, and strip illegals of phony “legal” status and order their benefits to be terminated.

Gee it doesn’t take any analysis to know he can deport them like he is supposed to under the law.

What possible logic supports all these contortions to allow lawbreakers to stay?

I think a Republican platform should be that every single illegal who takes advantage of Obama’s illegal actions will be deported as soon as the Republicans take control.

If Obama loves illegal immigration so much, he should join them.

I wonder if even someone like Ted Cruz would have the stones to cancel all those actions? If Cruz wouldn't do it, no one would.

IMHO, to fix that sorta crap:

1) Bills will be 3 pages. MAX
2) Bills shall deal with one subject and one subject only; including all amendments
3) The whole of the bill, and all attachments, must be read upon the floor 7 business days prior to the call to vote.
4) All laws Congress writes must have a 12yr max. life.

I’m sure there’s more I could add

RE: #4. How many laws are still on the books re: buggy whips, horses tied to..., etc. If the law is SO good, it should be easy to debate/pass again. Course, I recognize the current omnibus style B.S. as well.

Most people do not realize these stories are basically written by white house staffers, in order to set up trial balloons for policy.

The only solution is to defund. Don’t fund any of the administration’s priorities.

All this story from the Ministry of Information needs is an “Attention Comrades” at its beginning. “Oh and by the way comrades did you see how our wonderful leader produced a 4% increase in the GDP?”
