House Republicans expressed confidence Friday that they would win passage of a revised $694-billion measure to provide emergency funds for the border crisis, but only after making the package tougher on immigrants and adding more money for border state governors, namely Texas' Rick Perry.
Whether the two-bill package can pass the House, however, remained uncertain as Democrats largely opposed it and conservatives inspired by Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas still had objections.
After failing to muster enough support for an earlier package on Thursday, House Speaker John A. Boehner postponed lawmakers' August break, which was scheduled to begin Friday. But by Friday afternoon, no votes were scheduled.
Cruz, a potential presidential hopeful, inspired a revolt among conservative Republicans over the original border proposal, and on Friday, tea party activists continued a campaign to derail the bills unless there were guarantees that President Obama's attempts to legalize some immigrants, as the White House has promised, would be stopped.
Lawmakers are loathe to return home with little progress having been made on the crisis at the border -- where more than 57,000 migrant children have arrived unaccompanied since last October.

Remember the names of those who fail to vote.
The House passes the funding bill and Harry Reid and John Cornyn will attach the Gang of 8 Amnesty bill in conference in August and we’ll have mass amnesty as the law of the land in September when Obama gets back from Martha’s Vineyard.
Cornyn is already working on his “bi-partisan” talking points for taking this crap sandwich from the house. McCain ratted out Cornyn yesterday. And now Cornyn has skipped DC.
$694 billion??
or vote the wrong way..
whats the point? Obama just came out and said their plan is dead and awful..
so now they are just wasting time. They should do the right thing. Call for the sealing of the boarders and the deportation of all those known to be illegal in custody.
on top of that demand enforcement of the laws that apply to the hiring of illegals and jail a few of the pay check writers..
this should get the rest to leave.
$694,000,000,000. It boggles the mind. Half a trillion dollars, and what will it actually accomplish? Nothing that’s needed.
A vote for the house funding bill is a vote for Cornyn and Reid to attach the Gang of 8 amnesty bill in conference.
RE: $694 billion??
Hey, don’t blame me, I just copied and pasted what was on the website...
Stop the ‘RAT insanity!!! Let’s show some love. Send their “unaccompanied minor” asses home and reunite them with their “parents”. We can even pass a bill called the LOVE Act so the commie lib ‘RATs can feel really good about themselves!
It’s only $694,000,000—that’s millions.
But your point is still correct—almost three quarters of a billion dollars—for nothing that we should be responsible for.
OK folks, that was a typo by whoever wrote that article.
The correct number is $694 Million ( with an M ).
See this other site (REUTERS):

EXCERPT:
“The House funding bill aimed to add $35 million in federal reimbursements for states that deploy National Guard troops to secure the border with Mexico, bringing the total to $694 million, lawmakers said after a closed door meeting of Republicans.”
Go home and listen to your voters! That is who you are supposed to represent, not the Sobbing Speaker!
>> $694 billion??
Only off by a factor of 1000 — but, hey, it’s all Monopoly money at this point, so what difference does it make?
Over $100 million of that is going to the banana republics of Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua to be squandered like all the other money we’ve given them.
RE: Its only $694,000,000thats millions.
We’re now so used to debt and spending in the hundreds of billions and trillions that we can’t think of spending in terms of Millions anymore.
TO ARMS!
Traitor Boehner sighted off the Port (Left) Bow!!
FIRE AT WILL !!!
Good point: “We didn’t build that debt - - - Obama built it!”
For a minute there, I thought in give-n-take DC, in exchange for “toughening-up” the bill, that they just raised the amount 187 times larger, from the $3.7 bills originally proposed. Must be more lawyering and community organizing than originally thought...
Unless of course they're bought and owned by the Chamber of Commerce.
