The war between Israel and Hamas is one of the most puzzling events in the recent annals of the decades-old Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
A cease-fire had held between the two parties for nearly a year and a half; the strategic payoff of the latest conflict is vague for both sides, and neither side seemed to have an obvious interest in going to war. Even if it's clear that both Israel and Hamas had been preparing for a major conflict, with Hamas spending 40% of its budget on its tunnel network and booby-trapping UN infrastructure and the Israelis looking increasingly committed to a long and already costly ground operation inside of a hostile Gaza Strip, it's uncertain why the worst conflict between Israelis and Palestinians in well over a decade broke out in July — and is getting steadily worse.
The truth is that rival diplomatic, sectarian, and ideological blocs that have been on a steady collision course are colliding. Here are some such conflicts, apart from the ever-festering over-60-year-old one between Israelis and Palestinians, that are playing out in Gaza right now.
Sisi versus the Muslim Brotherhood.
Last summer, Egyptian army field marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi led a popularly backed coup that overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohammed Morsi, the only democratically elected civilian president in Egypt's history. Sisi swiftly cracked down on the organization, violently dispersing sit-in demonstrations in Cairo, imprisoning nearly all of the Brotherhood's top leadership, and driving its rank-and-file underground.

HAMAS was planning, all this time, for a huge military operation using the tunnels. They were busted. This is the story in a nutshell.
Near the end of the 19th Century, the specter of the “Yellow Peril”, the swamping of other countries with the flood of Chinese fleeing/being driven from their native land, and machinations of a shadowy player of the time, Fu Manchu (a fictional character), supposedly a mastermind of this orchestrated diaspora of Chinese peasants everywhere, was a theme frequently repeated.
The paranoia about the world being taken over by massive numbers of illiterate and fanatical invaders is not a new one, by any means.
The flood of Islamic Jihadists into nations where they never were before, mixed in with and indistinguishable from the “more moderate” Muslims, has brought war and insurrections to parts of the world where they had been largely quiescent for years. Gaza is just a launch point for this swarm of irregulars and urban guerrilla warriors.
What is somewhat humorous about it is that they are such undisciplined heathens that they could not refrain from little nibbling attacks when in the end stage planning for the big attack and showed their hand. Idiots.
Civilzation vs. barbarians—ancient war dates back to the dawn of history. You must become as savage as your foe or they will win by sheer numbers and fanatic drive. Look at Ancient China vs. the Mongols? Rome vs. the Huns? Europe vs. the Islamic hordes? After the First Crusade—Christian kingdoms were set up in the Holy Lands—they were known for their tolerence towards Muslims—They lasted 200 some years and were smashed! This could be the fate of Israel as well. It could be our fate as well as people from the south invade the USA.

Sort of reminds of another country where a invasion of its borders is being orchestrated by a person who is masquerading as a president but is, in fact, an imposter and traitor.
