Thursday on MSNBC's "Now with Alex Warner," Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) blasted Republican leadership for letting “Speaker Cruz” "call the shots," which caused a delay of the August recess, as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) battled over the bills details.

Van Hollen said, “It was Senator Cruz calling the shots, and that’s why people around here are calling him ‘Speaker Cruz’ today." He added, "It means when Speaker Boehner says he’s going to get something done from now on, he’d better be checking with Senator Cruz to see if he’s gonna get the votes because clearly the new leadership team isn’t up to the task.”

This lib has brought up an excellent idea.

The Constitution does not prevent a sitting US senator from becoming Speaker.

Imagine a world in which Ted runs the House as well as remaining in the Senate.....

yes, I proposed this yesterday, or maybe Wednesday, in a thread about Cruz.
I don’t think Van Hollen has any idea that this is legal, and might be embraced.

I’m sure Hitler was furious when “Normandy Beach Master” Eisenhower arrived as well.

Sounds like the best plan I’ve heard in a long time!

It’s called leadership. If Boehner won’t do it, then Ted Cruz will.

I remember in 1982 when then Senator Alan Simpson, “R”-WY chastising Senator Helms in the same way as was done here to Cruz. Helms had fought against some liberal agenda item, which I can’t recall, that prolonged a special session when it was time for the Christmas break. Simpson began calling Jesse “Grinch”.

Real leadership is a bitch for guys like Chris Van Hollen. It's also a bitch for the GOP elite.

Ted Cruz is showing them how it's done.

I just get more and more impressed with Cruz daily.

Can you imagine what we would in for if KBH was still in office.

“Love it,but would rather see him in the White House”

Well, sometimes effective leadership in Congress is too important as some know best how the sausages are made.

In any case I prefer Governors to be Potus as they have proven ability at leadership, whereas Senators are hired simply to offer a persuasive opinion only. See john McCain

KBH typified the 'go along, get along' politician. I'm so glad to be rid of her. Her legacy is zip, zero, nada, nothing!

Cruz has already established himself as this nation's leading statesman in the Senate. Cornyn on the other hand, an establishment RINO who must be defeated or ran out of Washington and Texas.
