A judge is sticking to light sentences for two men who participated in a mob attack on a Detroit-area motorist in April. Prosecutors lost their bid Friday to get James Davis and Latrez Cummings sent to prison for the attack on Steve Utash.
The suburban tree trimmer was severely beaten when he got out of his pickup truck to help a boy who had darted in front of the vehicle. Utash was in a coma after the beating. Five people pleaded guilty to assault.

Is the family planning to sue the city for damages, lack of security perhaps? Hopefully, this man gets enough to support his ongoing care, the family gets some to replace missing income. I think the judge just wants to put this issue in the past, to avoid a Chicago Style riot where people destroy their own neighborhoods.

DETROIT AND ITS GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES (INCLUDING ITS CORRUPT AND EVIL JUDGES) SHOULD NOT GET ONE PENNY OF RELIEF FROM ANY DIRECTION.
Let their pensions and benefits fade away into near nothingness. No pay raises or pension protections for the likes of this judge who does not know justice.
