LYNN The passion and polarization of the immigration debate was on full display here Tuesday afternoon, when more than a hundred protesters stood on the steps of City Hall to denounce Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy for saying that an influx of child immigrants from Central America is draining the citys resources.
Holding signs and chanting at times, the demonstrators stood behind a round of speakers from local community groups who criticized the mayor and the superintendent of the Lynn public schools, Catherine Latham, for comments they made to about the costs incurred by immigrant children.
The mayors comments provoke tension, said Jose Palmas, one of the organizers of the protest. These kids are scapegoats for the citys problems.

SEIU astroturf most likely.
This is about people coming here not to be US citizens but to prey upon this country.Democrats
Is that a dude or a chick with a priests collar in the picture? Since when do they demonstrate?
Should have rounded ‘em all up, check their status and if illegally here sent them back to where they came from. Yes, Virginia, and every other state ... Santa Clause is broke.
Hmmmm . . . Latino quotes, Latino “Journ-O-List”
No bias here.
Anyone, ANYONE who thinks that isn’t a strain on budgets is a bigot. There’s no other way around it.
More than 100 attended? Really, I used to get three as many to see my Aerosmith tribute band.
Aside from that, if they cannot get supporters for this Obama immigration nonsense in the city of Lynn then of course they are in deep doo doo and they know it.
Imagine a supporter who has been here in Massachusetts ever since July. Now that begins the reason for the obvious mandate to continue the insanity.
For those unfamiliar with the Gay State...Lynn is basically Detroit on a smaller scale.
These “children” are 35 years old. The Superintendent said the gray hair gave it away.
Lynn, Lynn the city of sin. You never come out the way you went in.
It’s also about suppression of information that would allow the public to make informed decisions.
It doesn’t say that the Mayor opposed the illegals. Just that she publicized that accomidating them was impacting and burning down the city’s budget.
Which is exactly what a mayor has a fiduciary responsibility to do. There’s a term for failure to do this. It’s “coverup.”
Whats amazing to me is how quickly these new guests of the state took to protesting in their new home.
That our intellectually confused, morally compromised, mass media continue to 'enable' this deception, is, of course, the key to its continued appeal.

Actually he does have a point...the cities' problems are it's full of liberals!
Speaking the truth is racist now.
While it does not amaze me, I would certainly agree that it reflects a social attitude that we certainly do not need any more of in contemporary America. It shows a cavalier lack of respect for the social values of our rooted citizenry.

My Dad (long since departed, grew up in Depression era Southie) used to recite a little ditty..."I'll never go back to Chelsea,I'll tell you the reason why,a man got hit with a bag of s**t,and that's the reason why".
Interesting to read the comments at the bottom of the article. This is the very liberal Boston Globe mind you, and the overwhelming sentiment is ship these “immigrants” back home. They are a financial burden. As the local saying goes, “light dawns on Marblehead”.
