Everything, that is. Just when you think it's ok for your child to enjoy an innocent, wholesome cartoon that has been thrilling little tikes for seven decades, you find out that it's -- what else? -- RACIST!
That is, according to the ridiculous screed of Tracy van Slyke, of The Guardian, which is so stupid it just must be a joke. Right? Wrong! She's serious.
Check out what she said about the evil Thomas the Tank Engine:

I guess following that logic, old cowboy movies were the most racist things of all. Not only were all the main characters white, the good guys wore white hats and the bad guys wore black hats, and everybody oppressed the poor inocent red men and Chinese laundry/railroad workers. I really believe the race pimps have jumped the shark.

Something else that is entirely offensive to liberals is that the trains on this show have jobs. They are all hardworking. And they all take pride in work well done. If they were people instead of trains, I can’t imagine even one of the characters demanding freebies like Obamaphones.
Thomas is a very useful engine.
The ditz couldn’t see the somewhat Leftist overtones of the show what with all the collectivism and you are only worthy if you are a “really useful engine”?

The white “smoke” is not smoke at all. It is steam, you moron.
The diesels are in fact pumping out black smoke.
How do such stupid people get published?
Honestly, the entire publishing industry has gone straight to the crapper. A serious-minded man of letters has to go to the 1- and 2-star ratings on Amazon book reviews to get anything approaching literary criticism these days. They are the only ones (not all, some) that are offering, honest, objective criticism and not just more “brilliant, poignant, sensitive, moving” crap of the 4- and 5-star reviews.
