This is a good video, only 2 minutes and 45 seconds long and in the last part, around 45 seconds long, Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu speaks in Hebrew.
Note: I added bold highlights to denote words heard emphasized in the spoken discussion between Bloomberg and Netanyahu.
Michael Bloomberg is shown de-planing from El Al Airlines. Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu greets Bloomberg warmly, both men shake hands, then hug after Bloomberg has descended to the bottom of the plane's steps.
Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu formally and warmly welcomes Michael Bloomberg to Israel.
After welcoming Bloomberg as "a true leader, a true friend..."
Bibi continues: "... And the truth is, which you wanted to demonstrate by coming here, is that this airport is open and you can fly in and out of Israel. We protect this airport..."
Bibi says: "...There is no reason whatsoever for the mistaken F.A.A. decision to instruct American planes not to come here."
Bibi says: "...Where I stand, the Prime Minister of Israel, where you stand, anybody can stand. I think this decision only rewards the Hamas terrorists for nothing!"
Bibi says: "...You can fly in and out of Israel. And I hope that the F.A.A. rescinds this decision as soon as possible."
Michael Bloomberg says: "...Every time I come here I am reminded of history, of where my family comes from, of freedom and democracy. This is the only Democratic country in this part of the world... a true Democracy where everybody has a chance to express themselves and practice the religions that they want to practice in the ways they want to..."
Michael Bloomberg says: "...I would argue Ben Gurion Airport is probably the safest airport in the whole world to fly in and out of. This is a country that's been threatened since its existence back in 1948 when the United Nations created this country as a Homeland for the Jews. And Israelis know what it is to keep people safe."
For the first time in my adult life....I stand with Nanny Bloomberg!
Sounds like Bloomie might be running for something....
Agree with you, Lee. This video touched my heart.
Also I have long admired Bibi Netanyahu.
That’s a good PR piece, but they’re going to have to convince a number of other airlines who are outside of the USA. However Israel did set up an ALTERNATE AIRPORT outside the range of Hamas rockets. I’ll post that report.
Nanny Bloomberg should go to Gaza and demand that Hamas give up their guns and rockets. He should take Shannon Watts with him.
European airlines extend Ben-Gurion flights ban as Israel mulls diverting plans to Eilat

Air France and Germany’s two largest airlines on Wednesday canceled more flights to Tel Aviv because of ongoing safety concerns amid the fighting between Israel and Hamas.
Germany’s Lufthansa and Air Berlin extended their cancelations through Thursday and Air France said it was suspending its flights “until further notice.”
Polish state airline LOT also said Wednesday that it has suspended its flights to Israel from Warsaw until Monday because of concern for passengers’ safety.
“This is caused by the tense situation in the region,” LOT added in a statement. “The connection will be re-established as soon as possible and when we are sure that our operations are hundred percent safe.”
Lufthansa said its decision applies also to its subsidiaries Germanwings, Austrian Airlines, Swiss and Brussels Airlines. In all, 20 flights from Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Zurich, Vienna and Brussels were cancelled for Thursday.
The airline initially had suspended flights for 36 hours through the end of Wednesday. Those cancelations were extended because “at the current time there is no sufficiently reliable new information that would justify a resumption of air operations,” Lufthansa said.
Anything is possible of course but I really don't think the trip was anything more than a personal goodwill gesture and possibly a vacation for Bloomberg. As Bloomberg said in the video "Every time I come here..."
Also I have friends who live in the Negev, and Israeli neighbors who travel back and forth. Every single Israeli I have ever known has told me that they feel much safer when they are in Israel.
Thanks, Star Traveler, really appreciate it. :)
What about their 45 ounce sodas?
Doesn’t Bloomberg see all the Jews walking around with assault rifles, pistols, semi-auto rifles and sub-machine guns?!
Every class on a field trip has an armed person with them. Doesn’t he just wet himself that a mass shooting hasn’t happened to a class of children by those people with firearms standing right next to the children?
Why doesn’t he push for their disarmament? You know, to make them safe.
Grzegorz, Lizol and Lukasz, what are you hearing in your local media? Does it sound to you as if the suspension was issued solely out of concern for passengers' safety? Thanks!
Interesting point.
Perhaps Bibi can change Bloomie’s mind on gun control.
He is a demented asshat and hypocrite.
Heard him today on Cavuto’s show, badmouthing the Right, singing Obama and Kerry’s praises, and agitating for amnesty for illegal aliens.
Living proof that you can be a billionaire and still not have a lick of commonsense
How about this... Bibi, if you like him so much, why don't you just keep him?
He’s a tremendous hypocrite, a monstrous liar and scoundrel on par with Adolf Hitler himself.
Runs around the world with armed guards, busy banning guns and soft drinks.
Eff him and the cretins that voted for him
Three times
NYC might as well be in outer space compared to the Real USA.
He is a demented asshat and hypocrite.
Heard him today on Cavutos show, badmouthing the Right, singing Obama and Kerrys praises, and agitating for amnesty for illegal aliens.
Living proof that you can be a billionaire and still not have a lick of commonsense
I saw that and it was damned disgusting.
Peculiar Bloomberg has to go there, to be reminded of freedom and democracy.
