Most of the people alive today have known someone personally who fought the Germans or were around when Hitler was considered the biggest villain ever. The lack of historical perspective in media and education + the death of people who lived during Hitler’s reign of terror could changed all of that. What I’m saying is we’re a generation away from Hitler being revered by the left like Mao, Che, Gorbachev, and so on. It’s not quite the dichotomy that writer seems to think it is. If you go down the line of Hitler’s policies, the Democrats would (admittedly) agree more times than not. They would secretly agree 100%.
So, why do they use his playbook? (Rhetorical question!)
As Mark Steyn made clear in his great book, Liberal Fascism, the Left hates the man Hitler but not his vision.
Communists, Fascists, Progressives have no problem with dictatorial state control, genocide, eugenics, and atheism.
Communism and Fascism are not opposite ends of a spectrum.
Just like Bolsheviks and Mensheviks are not opposite ends.
Factions and ideologues fighting for the same ends will naturally become enemies. Just like Hitler embarrassed the Progressive Left, Obama is embarrassing them now.
The Left hates the heritage of Jewish/Christian morality.
There is no God in their utopian society.
