Cole: More Than Sanctions Needed To Stabilize Eastern Europe

The White House has called for an unimpeded international investigation into the Malaysian Airlines crash in Ukraine.

U.S. Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla. 4) says the suspected surface-to-air missile attack on the passenger plane shows that President Obama's announcement this week to impose more sanctions on Russia isn't enough to ease the conflict in Eastern Europe.

“The Russians are probably as shocked about this as anybody else, and they know there's going to be some sort of response, not only from the United States, but probably from the broader European community as well," Cole says. "It's clear that pinprick sanctions aren't going to get the job done. The Russians have ignored them so far, and this has been the result, so I think it calls for a stronger response."

Speaking to CNN Friday morning, Cole said Congress is actively considering the administration's request for overseas contingency operations and additional money to redeploy forces in Europe in response to Russian activity along their western rim.

"So I think this is the appropriate vehicle to also add in direct military assistance for Ukraine," Cole says. "I think that's an unmistakable sign that we're going to support them, and that we're going to try to give them the wherewithal to defend their territorial integrity."

Cole serves on the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, and said in a statement yesterday stability in the region would likely remain elusive without significant aid to the Ukrainian military.

I wish everyone would slow down. The goal should be to reach some kind of stability globally. Otherwise, civilization is at the tipping point and every maniac who wants to destroy it has very serious weapons.

If the Europeans aren’t willing to put their skin in the game then there is no reason to to put American soldiers lives in jeopardy in a war with Russia. This is not our war.

Well, maybe it is to the world government elites.

P!ss on Europe, so what happens to the ever growing mountain of debt in this suicidal rush to restart the cold war? OH, THAT`S RIGHT! Military debt, GO-OD! Other debt, BA-AD!

no reason to put American lives in jeopardy

Or anyone elses. The US policy of arming "freedom fighters" is a real large part of all of the heavily armed maniacs hell-bent on the destruction of civilization.

In America, the elites choose to disarm freedom fighters.

It is frightening.

I've always been labeled a "Debbie Downer" a little too aware of potential downsides of things. So, I'll do my thing. I'm on a short road trip. In what should be very rural, Born-in-the_USA areas, everywhere you turn there are a lot of central americans. I'm wonder if it's just kids and young adults walking across the border that will be looking for refugee status. This is pure hypothesis. ,

US sovereignty is over. The borders are open and the world has moved in. I guess we could say the same happened in Europe. But...we are falling and what is going to happen is global government.

The best way to destroy and enslave people is to take away national heritage and pride.

That has been very successful for the global cabal leaders.
Could that all change? probably not in our lifetime. No matter what, all we have known is going to be a memory. A good one. At least we have that.

People that are aware are trying to fight it, but the odds are not in our favor as time moves on.

US sovereignty is over

Not just our sovereignty. Sovereignty will belong to a few enclaves and islands with very defined populations. Isn't that what Israel is fighting for, as the world around it crumbles? Won't Mormons have stability and security? Switzerland and Iceland (and some others) have the isolation, survival skills and population to perservere.

At this point, after the chaos of the collapse, a world without strong federal and global governance might not be worse than what the world is now, if your choose well (or can afford to move to one of those enclaves). It'll be like what happens after the collapse of all empires. Some regions and communities will survive even thrive because of the attributes of the people and their environment. Others will likely collapse and the people will die off or kill each other off with wars and violence. There will be a dying off of those who don't have the attributes for survival.,

I think we're already there. The elite have been culling their herd, getting rid of Khadaffi and others they don't want in their club. They're accumulating all of the wealth and resources they can before retreating to their safehavens, while us "little folk" deal with the armaments, low-skill populations and destruction of the environment left behind. It'll be a cleansing, and the cycle will begin again.

Do I really believe this? Absolutely.
