As Unaccompanied Minor Crisis Continues Democrats Claim Border is Secure

As unaccompanied illegal minors continue to pour into the United States through the southern border with Mexico, overwhelming law enforcement resources and housing facilities, Democrats are arguing the border is secure.

“The border is secure,” he told reporters after the Senate Democrats’ weekly policy lunch. “[Sen.] Martin Heinrich [(D-N.M.)] talked to the caucus today. He’s a border state senator. He said he can say without any equivocation the border is secure.”

Over the weekend during an appearance on CBS' Face the Nation Democrat Rep. Luis Gutierrez argued that because minors are willingly turning themselves into Border Patrol agent, the border is clearly secure.

"The border is secure," Gutierrez said on CBS' Face the Nation. "The fact is, the children are handing themselves over to the Border Patrol Agents, and under our laws, they must be treated."

Liberal logic: the border is so secure, 57,000 children have been able to cross over it. Meanwhile as Border Patrol agents continue to work in overcrowded processing centers instead of out patrolling in the field, dangerous drug smugglers are operating with impunity.

The Mexican border is secure.

There are no illegal aliens crossing the border from the United States into Mexico.

Most the “minors” I’ve seen are probably 20+ years of age.

Well, of course they do! Have you ever heard a democrat admit they’re wrong?

He probably meant "miners". Mining for welfare checks and other "free" bennies.
'Thar's gold in them thar hills' (gold in this case being tax dollars fleeced from the citizens, and paper money printed up by a Government that continues to dilute the worth of our dollar). Come one, come all. The current U.S. Government cares nothing about the Nation or its Citizens -- just on how to increase the power base of the royal bureaucrats. Sadly, this is not going to change without a Bastille Day re-enactment.

These folks were failures at making their own nations more prosperous. They come here to be failures and make all of us less prosperous.

Why do they not fight to make their own nations better? It’s too easy for them to ruin our nation.

I blame them less than our Government (and the Media and wolves in sheep clothing that encourage this behaviour).
Although you are correct that these illegal invaders should work to improve their own nations, it is human nature to want something for nothing. It is the Government's responsibility to uphold the law and protect our borders and Constitution. Their dereliction to duty, and those that encourage them to act in this manner, are the ones at fault.

Characteristic of the Orwellian “doublethink” that pervades Washington today, and particularly the liberals that dwell there in disproportionate numbers, consistency is not their strong suit.

Perhaps a huge wave of crossings INTO Mexico from among the poor and unemployed who were born American citizens, and who today, through no fault of their own, find themselves fallen through the cracks, would be an appropriate response to this sudden influx from the southern border.

It would certainly test the proposition of equality between nations.

There is a series on TV, Wednesday nights at 10 PM Eastern, on the FX cable channel, called “The Bridge”, which explores the various aspects of trans-national interactions. Seems to reflect a lot of the corruption that is pervasive on both sides of the border.

A lot of people end up dead.

An “unaccompanied minor” crisis is a toddler getting separated from his parents and wandering around the grocery store or airport by himself. This is a border security crisis.

Either you leave or you will die unless you join a gang or criminal network. It's not much of a choice,” Javier Martinez of the Partnership for Community Action said.

my my my. This sounds -exactly- like the conditions in our own inner cities with our own blacks and latinos and it might as well be Jesse Jackson talking.

Sorry, not falling for it. Why isn't Javier Martinez calling for the resignations of the presidents of these countries? what makes them so special over Iraq? or Lebanon? or Syria? or Somalia? or Russia? or China?

argument fail, Javier.

“The border is secure.”

Give Harry Reid a break. How could he know if the border is secure or not?

We have absolutely zero Border Patrol Agents patrolling the actual border to keep people from crossing illegally.

They are all 40-50 miles North of the Border where the small percentage we intercept are given food shelter and permisos to stay in the United States and to get welfare until they are (never ) deported.
