Felony charges if you’re a public servant as it contains elements of official oppression and violation of 4th amendment rights.
I had this happen to me once. It wasn't until just now that I realized it was probably a lie.

“911 - What’s your emergency?”
“Yeah, I’ve got some lying sacks of **** here telling me they’re coming in my house illegaly because they got a 911 call.”
Good thing the chief cleared that up.
“No lying or illegal stuff guys.”
Or confiscate firearms, I'll bet. If not now, then someday soon.
An interesting development since the Courts have determined that cops can deliberately lie to gather evidence under probable cause.

If you have a land line, it is super easy to make a 911 hangup call from your phone. No need to even be at the house. It will be recorded at the 911 center as a true, verifiable 911 hangup.
Another reason to ditch land lines.
Sorry officer, you are mistaken. There was no 911 call made from this residence.

The way I read the article, the copthugs are lying to individuals in their homes, not to 911 operators. Did I read it wrong?

You wouldnt think a police chief would have to do this officially.
Geez, I do not know the answer to this. The Supreme Court has already ruled that it is permissible for copthugs to lie to suspects/people/individuals. If a copthug decides that one is a ‘suspect’ then wouldn’t that make it OK for the copthugs to lie to that individual/s to gain entrance to his/her home?

The friendly and competent cop on the beat of my childhood (many, MANY years ago) is no more.
Now, they lie about calls to get into your home, then push you to the floor, rough you up, put you in cuffs, and shoot your dog.
America in a nutshell.
Cops are allowed to lie to citizens. You’re not allowed to lie to cops.
There’s something very, very wrong with that.
Well gee there’s always their trusty back up “Paid Informant” to make the calls for them. Willie the Wino will do it for the price of a bottle of Mad Dog.
Such is the culture of sociopathy that is now trained into our police.
