It was a great World Cup. I watched every game from Day One.
Can’t wait for 2018!

You don’t have to wait for 2018.
2016 will see two great tournaments. The Euro and The Copa America Centenario, which will be a special tournament held in the US, featuring the US, Mexico, Costa Rica, and all the South American powers.
Brasil did a great job staging this. Too bad their side did not so well in the semis, but the project was completed and done well. Lots of jobs were created and maybe something will be made in the long run.
Best one I can remember ... and I’m 68 years old! My only disappointment is that Messi was not more effective today. The German team did a great job on defense, but the Argentinians had several golden opportunities which they squandered.
Cant wait for 2018!
I'd bet you didn't grow up in the United States. From an American sports fan's perspective, the game of soccer is generally kind of boring but it could be made more offensive by changing some rules that hinder scoring chances. And all that flopping of players only adds to the dead time.
Then, too, the world championship today would have been determined by penalty kicks if Germany had not luckily put in a goal (that counted) right near the end. To break a tie game of ultimate importance by penalty kicks would be absurd. It's the equivalent of breaking a tie in basketball with by a free throw shooting contest.
Of course, the US's relatively early elimination from the tournament detracted from interest here in the later stages of the World Cup.
Why was the Argentine goal disallowed?
It was hard to tell which team had the players with the most German blood. ;-)
OK, I did watch some of it, but soccer is screwy. What is the deal with the pretend injuries? And it is so frustrating to think the game is about over and you know who won, when, “bam” extra time. At the end of the game today, it certainly seemed as if the refs were holding out and trying to give Argentina another shot.
I think the refs have way too much power over the game. They alone decide on whether a foul is real or not and how bad it is, they control the time, and when they hand out penalty kicks, that can win or lose the game for a team.
At least the crowds weren’t doing thost stupid chants, blowing horns, and making lot of other annoying noises during these matches.
I did enjoy the British announcers. They call things as they see them and are not namby-pamby like US announcers.
