From my experience, I worked for a bank and let me tell you my coworkers and I have given ideals to run the department sufficiently. During meetings we gave suggestions to management what we believe can make our department more productive. Well we did that only to fall on deaf ears and guess what? My former department has had huge loses and the small staff is overburden with work. Yet they continue with having more loses. I say good riddance. My department will eventually implode. It is not that we want to run the department but we want to improve it and if the boss refuse to hear ideals well “Go Embrace The Suck”. Now being laid off (which I am glad) like I said they had huge loses and they have a high turnover rate. If I was management or the boss it would not hurt to get new ideals to help the company grow and prosper. Many like to run a company as if Obama is running it “My way or the Highway”.

Most managers are nothing but private label bureaucrats. Unless they can get direct credit for any change, it's not in their interest to challenge an inherited business unit.
