If Howie doesn’t happen to Entercom when his contract expires, who else might?

Howie has signed with a company called Global Media (the guy who does it helped syndicate a show in other parts of the country called Bob and Sheri). I think his contract with Entercom ends in Sept. One thing I heard is that Howie and Sandy were both seen going into the offices of Money Matters, which owns a couple small stations and does the WRKO financial talk bit in late mornings (I think); they also were the ones who syndicated Michael Graham to about 6 stations (Graham moved to Atlanta).

So the idea is with Global Media, Howie gets to control his show. WRKO can choose to run it; if not maybe WUFC 1510 could. Details soon I hope. Howie is taking a trip to Cleveland this weekend and it could involve radio but it also might be about his books or movie rights. He has done Cle. business trips before.

I would hope Howie’s current affiliates would sign on.
I know Howie had a good relationship with Cary Pahigian
up in Maine (Talkers.com: “ Prior to his tenure at Saga’s Portland properties, Pahigian was station manager at heritage Boston outlet WBZ-AM; operations manager and program director of Philadelphia sports station WIP-AM; vice president of operations at Sconnix Broadcasting; and vice president and general manager of Boch Broadcasting on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.”)-—Pahigian may have been consultant for Howie when he tried to jump to WTKK in 2007, not sure.

All Access June 24:
>>TONY GARCIA’s GLOBAL MEDIA SERVICES is taking over syndication duties for HOWIE CARR’s afternoon talk show, based at ENTERCOM News-Talk WRKO-AN/BOSTON and aired on 15 stations across NEW ENGLAND. CARR, a Radio Hall of Famer and BOSTON HERALD columnist, said, “I’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time. It’s exciting to be branching out on my own and expanding the network. I have a great relationship with my affiliates and advertisers and I think they’ll tell you I’ve been a real asset to their businesses.”
>>GARCIA, who founded GLOBAL this year after stints at WLNK/CHARLOTTE, where he launched BOB AND SHERI into syndication, and REGIONAL HELP WANTED, said, “HOWIE CARR is an icon and legend in NEW ENGLAND and I look forward to partnering with him to bring his unique views on politics, pop culture and society to the entire nation. The possibilities are endless.”

Money Matters Radio (note the station they mention in Southbridge just got sold I think)
http://moneymattersboston.com

I think they have WBNW 1120 Concord MA and
WPLM 1390 in Plymouth. Graham’s show had also aired on
WCRN Worcester, WCCM Salem NH, WESO Southbridge etc.

So again it looks like Howie is involved with Global Media and by late Sept or Nov., he could be starting his show with them and not WRKO, though RKO could carry him. He may wind up doing the show from a studio somewhere else...or “rent” WRKO.

“The Entercom has hit the fan” you might say—Kirk Minihane’s comments (WEEI) have led Fox to stop advertising on Entercom’s more than 100 stations; supposedly they spent a million bucks last year advertising with Entercom...
