Other locals reported that Gelhaus pulled a weapon or threatened them in what seemed like non-confrontational circumstances, such as a routine traffic stop. I think he was looking to be a hero. If I were him, I’d be trying to move away. There’s a lot of ill feeling here about this. At any rate, the family has a lawyer and plans to sue in civil court. I hope they take everything Gelhaus owns, and bankrupt the sheriff’s department.
