That is one reason I don't think it is strictly genetic. Heterosexuality I understand, bisexuality I understand, but exclusive homosexuality makes no sense at all other than as some sort of psychological block or fixation.

Anthony Burgess addressed that issue in his novel “The Wanting Seed”. In some ways, that book is more “prophetic” about the direction a totalitarian society can go than 1984.

As another freeper mentioned last time I told the story - he suspected my professor was bi... after thinking about it I agreed with him.

The professor had then gone on to explain that any student who worried about being gay because they had once had a 'gay thought' was wrong. That most people's minds are all over the chart when it comes to sex. And that the odds of being in the 2% on either tail of the curve without knowing it are small...

I suspect the professor was liberal,bi, irrational, and projecting...

Homosexuals also seem to engage in risky anonymous sex, often in combination with drug & alcohol intoxication.

This leaves them vulnerable to various acts of street crime, perpetrated frequently by the sort of sketchy, desperate people most likely to be thought to want to take part in such things and be found in the bad parts of town.

People need to recognize that sexuality is a gift from God that has very a specific purpose….it is something that was designed to provide the ultimate of intimacy between a husband and a wife as can only occur when one give him/herself over totally to the other. As an outcome of the physical pleasure and release that accompany sexual intercourse, children may result which are then born into a family surrounded by love just as God intended. People can wonder all they want about what causes homosexuality or about people who feel compelled to rape, or will participate in incest or bestiality or whatever. At the root of all these things is somebody who has taken sexuality away from God’s intended purpose and after that, only He knows what the consequences will be….but it won’t be ‘good’ and it always will be perverted. To look at this another way, there is no such thing as a ‘homosexual’, there are only those whose lives have taken serious distorted turns off of what was the God approved path and their sexuality now plays itself out in a perverted fashion (sometimes even turned in a wrong direction through no actions of their own). A person’s sexuality is a very delicate thing and it needs to be protected extremely carefully when a person is young so that it manifest itself properly when a person becomes a married and committed adult. There is nothing that anyone can prove about the relationship between cause and effect on sexual matters….it is only possible to look at this sort of a thing from a statistical perspective and by inference come to what should be obvious conclusions. How many children of loving parents who are Christ followers declare themselves to be homosexual? Minuscule few. How many teenaged girls who become sexually abused by the live in boyfriend of their shacked up moms end up declaring themselves to be lesbians? An incredibly high number. How many young men who initially experiment in threesomes end up declaring themselves to be ‘gay’? Such a high number that it can’t be just a statistical oddity. If one assumes that the sexual preferences of priests follow the societal norm, why do the statistics show an incredibly disproportionate number of those abused by priests to be young boys as opposed to young girls? Why is it that such an incredibly high statistical number of men who declare themselves to be homosexual also claim that they themselves were sexually abused as a young boy? The number is huge and not in line at all with children who come from loving families whose parents lived lives of ‘doing sex God’s way’. And on it goes.

I was reminded of how important it was for parents to live lives of sexuality purity this morning when I was reading up on a Canadian serial killer Paul Bernardo (it’s an old case but it happened to be in the news)…. For those who don’t know, he was involved in the rape of many girls and finally in the sadomasochistic slaying of his girlfriend’s sister and two other young women. In keeping with the earlier thought that ‘sexuality is a very delicate thing’, it was obvious that somewhere in his life, something had happened that sent him down this road of depravity. In doing about 2 minutes of research, it was found that he was the by-product of his mother’s adultery and she continued to live an isolated life in the basement of their family home after he was born. Clearly his ‘father’ and mother were not a couple who sexually lived their lives God’s way. Here’s a Bible verse that is very hard for most people to accept because of its intonation that it condemns multiple generations to suffer the consequences after his/her father, grandfather or great-grandfather had sinned…. Exodus 34:7 “Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation”. That word ‘iniquity’ is often translated as being the same as ‘sin’ but a more accurate rendition is that it’s the ‘root of the sin’….as preachers sometimes say, “iniquity is the root and sin is the fruit”. This verse that expresses condemnation of subsequent generations is actually repeated several times in scripture and has to be treated as a ‘curse’ of some sort…. and fortunately, curses can be broken for those who call on God’s name.

No I was meant gays keep saying they are “born that way” and they can’t change their sexuality no more than a straight guy can turn gay. Well then how can he have hetero sex if he is gay? He would need to get aroused enough for penetration and orgasm which would be impossible if he were gay. I’m a straight guy and there is no way in hell I could ever get into have sex with another guy, so if that is their comparison, then how can he go from being straight to being gay? He doesn’t say his father was bisexual, he said his father was GAY. I think this just proves that people aren’t born gay but that it’s a conscious choice.

Research shows that homosexual men have higher female hormones, but also higher male homones (including exposure in the womb*). I think that makes them highly sexualized, so it’s easier for a homosexual man to have “bisexual” attraction than a straight man. *this is why homosexuality can be “from birth” but not entirely “genetic”. In utero homone exposure can change the sex of an embryo, so it’s no surprise that it could make “lesser” changes to sexuality.
