New York insurers seek 12- to 20-percent hike in Obamacare premiums

Insurance companies that feed into New Yorks health exchange system for Obamacare are requesting hikes to patient premiums that are in the double-digits, a New York Post investigation found.
The average increase that insurers are considering for 2015 is 12 percent, the newspaper reported. But a large number of these insurers actually want to boost premium payment costs on patients by 20 percent.
The rate hikes are curious, the New York Post noted, given the stated goal of Obamacare to rein in runaway medical costs.
Insurers, however, blamed the premium increases directly on Obamacare.

Of course prices will go up and quality and availability will go down. What did you think the Obamacrats meant when they called it "Affordable Health Care"?
Sheesh. As though they didn't mean what they say...

and the increased premiums will be enforced by the IRS. Just lovely!

Premium hikes are not the only factor.
A company can keep the same rate, but increase the deductible.
Or worse do both. -Tom

I am an insurance agent, and therefore argue online rather frequently with Obamacare supporters. Those in NY often claim that “THEIR RATES” went down.
I feel for them, but politically this increase is not a bad thing for our side!
NY already had some pre-existing conditions prohibitions and guaranteed issue mandates, I believe. So the increases directly caused by those aspects of Obamacare honestly did not hit NY as hard as the rest of us -—
Because NY already sucked!
Now NY sucks even worse.

but I just figured it out....the insurance companies know they're toast and the govt is allowing them to rake it in billion by billion until they throw their hands up in a few years and claim bankruptcy....
then our dear govt can indeed control all of us thru single payer and the govt's dear billionaire friends will be a few billion richer...

The Left’s argument against this is that the rates would have gone up even more if it weren’t for Obamacare ...
Right.

Average family will save $2,500/year, if you remember.

States need to nullify this beast. I’ve already personally nullified it. I will have nothing to do with Obamacare except fight every way I can to have it nuked.

That’s exactly it. The primary effect of Obamacare was to make the rest of the nations’ health insurance as messed up as NY, CT, NJ and a couple of other states already were. ...and most people didn’t pay attention to the fairly open statements that those first year rates were artificially reduced introductory rates.

This stuff is kinda comical to me, in a “fiddle while rome burns” sort of way. I cancelled my health care insurance the end of the year. I’ve saved a ton, though I had to pay out of pocket to have a crown fixed that fell off one of my teeth. But I won’t miss the $25 all that much...

On the bright side, look at all the new illegal aliens soon to be Obamacare recipients. Hahaha!

lol
you didn’t read the fine print!
he meant $2,500 less than it would have gone up!! (and since there is no way of knowing how much it WOULD have gone up, there is no way to hold him accountable for the $2,500 lie)
*sigh*
