The number of Americans 16 and older who did not participate in the labor force climbed to a record high of 92,120,000 in June, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
This means that there were 92,120,000 Americans 16 and older who not only did not have a job, but did not actively seek one in the last four weeks.
That is up 111,000 from the 92,009,000 Americans who were not participating in the labor force in April.

Why should they work? They get paid NOT to work and those of us who do labor foot the bill. They get free health care, free housing, free daycare (public skools) free lotto, dope and beer money (EBT cards for cash). Why work?
But...but isn’t the unemployment rate at 6.3%? (sarc).
This is very good news! -N. Pelosi
So combined with a 275,000 “part time” (increase).
111,000 removed from a calculation...
What please does this mean in a percentage number?
The ONLY thing keeping Obama, and the Progressive nanny-state alive in a zombie state is the Federal Reserve and its money printing.
It seems many conservatives do not understand that the Fed and fiat money are at the root of 1000 things they oppose - from illegal immigration, to abortion
That’s not the only thing; the other thing is the whole foreign bond ownership, which is not as high as domestic but has far more potential to nuke the dollar if they dumped those holdings. If a dump occurs and the US dollar ceases to be the world’s reserve currency, then what printing will result in is hyperinflation, even worse than what the Weimar Republic experienced.
Does that include people over the age of 65?
At election time in November, unemployment will be zero, although about 100,000,000 people will not be working
To keep the edifice of the Progressive nanny-state alive, The Fed/US Gov't have printed money/debt that the rest of the world, until now anyway, has been forced to accept. That's the benefit of having the world's reserve currency (and the world's largest military), but at least since Nixon severed any link to gold, we have been abusing that position. The world is indeed holding $trillions of dollars because of this abuse of the printing press by the Fed. As you point out - how much longer will it last?
I’m not in the labor force. Who wants to take care of my ten children so I can find paid employment?
I remember how it was during 1930 Depression days, and I've been collecting coins ever since.
My reason? I was given a dime for a birthday present in the 30s and, without permission, I toddled over to a Japenese fruit market with my dime and came home with ten pounds of Thonpson Seedless grapes.
Another memory ... FDR wrote an executive order in the 30s that made it illegal to hold gold coins - they were confiscated by the US Govenment.
It was Mark Twain that wrote ... "Hide your wallets, Boys, the legislature's back in session."
