George Orwell was not devious enough to think of this.

“Although these smart lights can monitor pollution...”

Since CO2 is now classified as a pollutant will I be monitored by that light for breathing?

Don’t you just love when the reporter asks the excellent question of this sounds Orwellian?

The creator (a total creep if you ask me) of this technology tries justify his invasion privacy tool by taking the fake moral high ground of oh he is just trying to prevent another mass school shooting for the children.

Oh yeah it’s for the children don’t you know. Unbelievable!

Watching the video at the link, the cameras aren't in the lights themselves, the cameras are co-located with some of the lights.

Motion activated LED lights + Wi-Fi enabled security cameras = nothing new.

What a joke to classified CO2, one of the 4 necessary elements (the other 3 being oxygen, water and light) that gives us life, as a pollutant. CO2 is the oxygen for plant life and trees. Without it we will not survive.

I think we don't need government to tell us what products we are allowed to purchase, regardless of what over-blown headline is used.

NOW we know why Republicans banned the old Edison incandescent bulbs.

And that is the answer for why they classified it as such.

I view the Republicans as Boss Hog (Dukes of Hazard reference) corrupt. I view the the Democrats as a criminal enterprise.

This is why we need a real opposition party. The Republican Party, for the most part, is corrupt, compromised and lacks girth to do anything effective.

No, just technical ignorance.

This is nothing but packaging, all this technology exists today and is routinely used. This company has just combined LED lighting, CCTV cameras, motion sensors, and other commonly used security products into one package. A big nothing, other that a way to crank up fear.

Yep. Now, if they add a remote control shotgun turret that is linked to the County Sheriff’s office I could be in trouble...

Um, they are not “lights” if they have cameras. They are cameras.
