GOP official at center of election dispute charged with DUI
The Sun Herald ^ | 6/29/714 | Crawdaddy

The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson is reporting GOP official Pete Perry was arrested in Leake County on Saturday night on a charge of driving under the influence.

Perry has been in the thick of the Chris McDaniel-Thad Cochran GOP debacle for weeks. He was the man a Tea Party official called after she and three others were locked in the Hinds County courthouse in the wee hours after the June 3 Primary.

Lately, he has been the point man for the GOP in explaining potential problems with the Hinds County vote. The McDaniel campaign has been trying to find enough Democrats who voted in the Democratic Primary and the GOP Runoff (illegal under Mississippi law) to invalidate the vote and get a new election. Perry has said a lot of those alleged crossovers were actually clerical errors.

Let’s see. A suicide and a DUI. It’s getting ugly in Mississippi. I don’t think this “rebranded” GOP thing is going well.

LOL! Center of election dispute?

More like chief instigator of obstruction.

I hope he has the MOTHER of all hangovers.

Sounds like bull to me.

They found 1,000 instances of people in Hinds County alone that should not have voted in the 6/24 primary.

Clerical errors in polling work should be minimal. The whole idea is the importance of being careful in election work.

As I understand it, Perry claims that at least 200 of the check marks for those who voted June 24 were mistakenly entered into the June 3 column. When the mistake was discovered, it was corrected and the checks were placed appropriately in the June 24 column.

I don’t see what difference this would make because if the June 3 column was blank anyhow, then that person did not vote twice and would not be counted by McDaniel’s researchers as a double vote.

Perry is obviously just trying to obfuscate the issue by bringing up “clerical error” for PR purposes.

Latest report is that McDaniel’s researchers have identified up to 1500 illegal votes in only a few precincts in Hinds County. Purportedly, they’re waiting until names and SSN’s are redacted out of additional precinct books to keep researching.

What a guy. DUI down those country roads between Carthage and the fairgrounds can be bad business unless they have improved in the last twenty years. My daddy taught me to drive through those areas, and he always pointed out the dangerous areas and told me who had died there.

Looks like the GOPe of Mississippi has taken a page from “the Great ObamaNation” playbook and is turning politics into a full contact sport without safety equipment. As the Corb Lund song says “When the money gets big, people get hurt”.

And no doubt getting help and advice from their DemocRAT partners (who are well versed in such BS) in this joint anti-conservative enterprise.

Returning home from his “fair cabin” whatever that is, preparing for the county fair, the DUI occurred at 8:25 PM.

Either he was just completely sloshed and driving very badly or somebody made a call.

Given the political situation, I’m leaning toward their being called.

You mean someone at the fair who thought he was drinking too heavily might have tipped off the cops?

The possibility given the current political environment might be that somebody knew he was likely over the legal limit and saw advantage in his being caught and charged. Might have even helped get him to that point.
