Confusion over doctor lists is costly for Obamacare enrollees in state

Frustration and legal challenges over the network of doctors and hospitals for Obamacare patients have marred an otherwise successful rollout of the federal healthcare law in California.

Limiting the number of medical providers was part of an effort by insurers to hold down premiums. But confusion over the new plans has led to unforeseen medical bills for some patients and prompted a state investigation.

More complaints are surfacing as patients start to use their new coverage bought through Covered California, the state's health insurance exchange.

"I thought I had done everything right, and it's been awful," said Jean Buchanan, 56. The Fullerton resident found herself stuck with an $8,000 bill for cancer treatment after receiving conflicting information on whether it was covered.

Right, the rollout was successful except for one small thing, it doesn't work.

These "journalists" have to be the stupidest people on the planet. Do they require a certain test to make sure they are dumb enough before they hire them?

Sure, it's prossible that it's covered, maybe, depending on your policy, if you can find a doctor who takes obamneycare...but first you have to reach your out of pocket deductible.

Right, the rollout was successful

Dictocrats measure success the same way P.T. Barnum did.

To the LA Slimes success is marked by nothing more than people actually got enrolled. Since California has 1/3 of all the countries welfare recipients large numbers signing up was a given.

The Slimes sets the bar so low a snail can jump over it.

"These narrow networks are making a huge difference in terms of affordability," said Mark Morgan, president of Anthem Blue Cross, a unit of industry giant WellPoint Inc. "We found in convincing numbers that people value price above all else."

What a piece of work this guy is. Blaming people for wanting to pay less for their insurance. I bet the "poll" was something like this: "Do you want to pay less for your insurance?"

Well, duh! I bet they never said, "You can pay less but you'll get less!"

The operation was a success, but the patient died.

My story: I enrolled our family in a CT plan only after looking at list of doctors to be sure the specialists we used in past were participants. When the time came to use one we discovered the list was essentially a fraud. The insurance company included every doctor they invited assuming they would all participate.

“In forming tighter networks, insurers tried to persuade doctors and hospitals to accept less money in exchange for a higher volume of Obamacare patients.”

I am beginning to believe the theory propounded by a then 26 year old “Redneck” whom I employed for a short time. He said that he was convinced that certain colleges are “stupid schools” where people go to learn to be stupid because, according to him, some of his “college educated” relatives were simply too stupid to have gotten that way naturally, they had to have had special training in being stupid. I discounted the theory at the time but it is beginning to seem more and more worth a second look.
