Students at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas are asking the former secretary of state to return the speaking fee she is set to collect when she appears at a university fundraiser in October.
...
The university is paying Clinton $225,000 for the appearance with money from "private donations secured by the UNLV foundation," according to a spokeswoman for the university who went on to say that no money from the school's operating budget will be used on the fee.
Even with that caveat, the news of Clinton's fee did not sit well with the university's students, especially considering Nevada's higher education board decided to raise tuition by 17 percent earlier this month.
Elias Benjelloun, the UNLV student body president, and Daniel Waqar, the student government's public relations director, told Nevada political reporter John Ralston that the speaking fee is "a bit outrageous."

Hillary Clinton's speaking fee at UNLV is more than 4 times what the average Nevadan makes in a year

I wonder if the clinton camp new this would happen to hil?
But we have to remember the Clintons are poor off! Amazing how all these politicians are out to raise money at this time. even the ones in office getting paid want us to send them money in order for them to ‘do the job they were supposed to ‘have done’.
The fact that the Democrat establishment gave CNN the green light to cover this story means they’re ditching her.
I think so to...and many even questioned if she’d run. Might just be keeping the seat hot for someone else....but then this would also depend on who we have running.
Old saying about a fool & his money is still true.
She’s all for income equality. An hour of speaking? Give her 25 bucks. Generous.
Instead of paying Hellary for delivering her speech, you can get the same amount much more cheaply, and smelling better, from this more intelligent and articulate deliverer:
Anyone who would approve a $225,000 payment to hear Hillary speak should immediately be sent to the shrink.
I can’t believe that a university would treat the working poor so badly! Seems really mean spirited. Just recently the poor lady was almost homeless. Haven’t you all been listening, as hillary so articulately explained, the clintons are not RICH rich. They are just a normal, everyday couple down for the working class struggle, trying to make ends mean with a mere $200,000 per speech (and healthy government pensions, Cadillac medical care, seven-figure book advances, and rich friends who give them about anything they want). ;-)
I predict Hillary will make this bigger by refusing to give the money back.
She is either ignoring her advisors or they are bad.
She needs to immediately give it back and open some kind of scholarship with it and get this behind her, or it will grow.
They are stuck in 1991 when they made up the story re Bush the elder being out of touch. They thought they were immune. Maybe Bill is immune.
But they do not realize what it’s like to graduate college with $40,000.00 with-interest debt, no job, no prospects and expenses they never dreamed of, with a tanking economy, and foreign invaders taking our jobs.
Hillary does not know what is going on.
To whom would she be speaking? Chelsea? Chelsea’s friends? Does she read seventeen magazine or the internet news sources?
She has no idea what goes on with these kids. They might be being brainwashed by lib professors at school, but they go home on break and see their peers, slightly older, struggling for independence, hope, jobs...
They’re not letting $225 G go.
Would be interesting to see how many Conservative speakers get this kind of payout for speaking at UNLV.
Seventeen percent!!! Yikes
It’s not a speaker fee per se, it is a political donation...laundering, that is. Good luck with that, getting it returned.
#BringOurMoneyBack.
Yes, what’s up with this. Why is this even being reported in the MSM???? The Clintons can’t be happy to see this sort of story broadcast.
What are these students complaining about. Don’t they know the Clintons are broke. Do these students want them to be on food stamps?
