My doctor and I have a pretty good relationship.

I cannot post what he had to say about nobamacare when I asked about it during my last visit.

He hasn’t seen a Medicaid patient in years and indicated that without his Medicare patients, who, thus far, haven’t really been involved with nobamacare, he would really be hurting. He also said that, even though he has not said anything, his staff follow the news and are beginning to worry about their jobs.

He said he would take a cut in pay rather than let any of them go. Very decent of him.

That is really great of him but if he is trying to make it in a solo practice, that may not help in the future. Docs who have a lot of Medicare patients aren’t exactly among the wealthiest any more. They do need to have a certain amount of money to live on, pay taxes and such things as malpractice insurance. They are also being forced into the world of electronic medical records and that software is expensive to buy and maintain. It’s ridiculous how complicated doctor’s offices have become and how much they have had to increase staff just to satisfy government requirements for standardized data and none of which increases the quality of care the patient receives.
