Anyone who’s dealt with a significant number of druggies can tell you that many of them seem to be “self-medicating” for any number of mental disorders.

Cops will tell you that when the end of the month comes around a lot of these pepole have used up their prescriptions already and are thus unable to control themselves.

It isn’t just that. Some have a tendancy for certain addictions. For me, it is old books and great whisky. Both of those pursuits tend to be rather self limiting.

A better example is a good friend of mine is the son of an alcoholic. My friend is such that he just can not start ANYTHING unless he does it all the way. So when he started using drugs in the military, he REALLY used drugs. To the point he was running them.

For me, I can enjoy a good whisky once a month and not really have any cravings for more. My friend craves heroin every day, even though he hasn’t touched it in 20 years.

And it doesn't matter what the ‘medication’ is either. They will try it all (sometimes all at once).

Vicks inhalers melted down to inject by needle. That one freaked me out for some reason before I knew about Meth & what they use to cook that crap...no more Vicks inhalers, no decongestants without an ID (wonder how they get one for that but not for voting?) or a prescription.
